HomeMy WebLinkAboutR-76-0309RESOLUTION NO. 76-3P9 A RESOLUTION ACCEPTING THE BIDS RECEIVED MARCH 8, 1976 FROM MOTOROLA, INC. IN THE AMOUNT OF $5,229.00, AND FROM TEXTRONIX, INC. IN THE AMOUNT OF $12,780.00, FOR FURNISHING MILLOVOLT METERS AND OSCILLO- SCOPES RESPECTIVELY, AT A TOTAL COST OF $18,009.00, FOR USE BY THE DEPARTMENT OF COMMUNICATIONS; AND AUTHORIZING AND DIRECT- ING THE CITY MANAGER TO INSTRUCT THE PUR- CHASING DIVISION TO ISSUE PURCHASE ORDERS THEREFOR. WHEREAS, bids were received on March 8, 1976 for fur nishing millovolt meters and oscilloscopes for use by the Department of Communications; and WHEREAS, the City Manager recommends that the bids of Motorola, Inc. and Textronix, Inc. for furnishing said millo- volt meters and oscilloscopes respectively, be accepted as the bid most advantageous to the City of Miami; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF MIAMI, FLORIDA: "DOCUMEfVT INDEX ITEMIN—T—t Section 1. The bids of Motorola, nc. -amount of $5,229.00, and of Textronix, Inc. in the amount of $12,780.00, for furnishing millovolt meters and oscilloscopes respectively, at a total cost of $18,009.00, for use by the Department of Communications, are hereby accepted and the City Manager is authorized and directed to instruct the Purchasing Division to issue Purchase Orders therefor. This equipment is a regular purchase. Funds in the amount of $5, 400. 00 were in- cluded in the 1975/76 budget with the balance being funded by bond monies from the new Police Station. This equipment will be used by the Technical Section of the Communications Department for maintenance of Emergency Communications Equip- ment and should be purchased a s soon as possible. ENCLOSURES In reference to your call this date the following information is here- with submitted. In the bids for oscilloscopes which were received on March 8, under Item II, the Phillips model 3260ES was offered by J. L. Highsmith and Co., representing Phillips Test and. Measuring Instruments Inc. This instrument is not the equivalent of the Tektronix Model. 475 which was requested in our call for bids. Some of the more important differences are as follows; Bandwidth Risetime Time Base Accuracy Phillips 3260ES 150 MHz 3 ns ± 2 % Tektronix 475 200 MHz 1.75 ns + 1 m Also probes arc included with the Tektroniz instrument but are not with the Phillips 3260ES, requiring an additional expenditure of $110. 00 for this item.
