ENCLOSURES:
The City of Miami has been award a grant in the amount of $11,250
from the Fine Arts Council of Florida. The City will. contribute
$2,550 in -kind services and the Cuban Cultural Foundation $1,200
hard cash to meet the match requirement.
These funds will be used to provide ballet and folkloric dance
classes which will 1.reserve and promote the cultural traditions
on the Spanish community of Miami. The dance program will con-
sist of lectures, demonstrations and the actual dance lessons.
Maria Elena Torano of the Cuban Cultural Foundation suggested to
the State that the award be given to the City because of its ca-
pacity to handle the day-to-day administration of the program.
The Cuban Cultural Foundation will serve in an advisory role to
the City during the funding year (January 1, 1976 - December 31,
1976). The Cuban Cultural Foundation administered the dance pro-
gram last year at the same funding level. The Office of Community
Affairs will now be directly responsible for administration.
