A RESOLUTION ACCEPTING THE BID OF CONTROLLED ENVIRONMENT OF FLORIDA, RECEIVED FEBRUARY 13, 1976, FOR FURNISHING FOUR HUNDRED AND NINETY TOTE CONTAINERS, AT A TOTAL COST OF $70962,50, FOR THE DEPARTMENT OF SANITATION, AND AUTHORIZ- ING THE CITY MANAGER TO INSTRUCT THE PURCHASING DIVISION TO ISSUE A PURCHASE ORDER THEREFOR. WHEREAS, bids were received on February 13, 1976, for furnishing four hundred and ninety tote containers for the "DOCUMENT , Iw ►'tE X 11 NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF MIAMI, FLORIDA: Section 1. The bid of Controlled Environment of Florida, received on February 13, 1976, for furnishing four hundred and ninety tote containers, for the Department of Sanitation, at a total cost of $7,962.50, is hereby accepted and the City Manager is authorized and directed to instruct the Purchasing Division to issue a purchase order therefor. SUBJECTRequest for I2esolutien and Award of Bid : Tote Containers REFERENCES ENCLOSURES: Pursuant to Public Notice, sealed bids were received February 13, 1976 for furnishing four hundred and ninety tote containers for use by the Department of Sanitation. Invitations were mailed to twenty-seven (27) potential suppliers and five (5) bids were received as follows: Unit Bidder Price Controlled Environment of Florida $16.25 County Plastics Corp. 16.25 Rowland Truck Equipment, Inc. 20.90 Kelly Sales and Service Inc. 21.40 Rubbermaid Industrial Products Corp. 25.30 Total Price $ 7,962.50 7,962.50 10,241.00 10,486.00 12,650.00 Funds are to be furnished through the 1976-76 Fiscal Year Budget. These tote barrels are an annual purchase used by the Waste Collection Division in the collection of garbage from the back yards. Although County Plastics Company, a New York corporation and Controlled Environment of Florida submitted identical bids which were the lowest bids received it is requested that the award be rrade and a resolution be pre- pared accepting the bid as received from Controlled Environment Co-rpany of Florida Inc., of Boynton Beach, Florida for furnishing four hundred and ninety tote containers at a total cost of $7,962.50. %his is in line with the City's policy to award identical bids to local or Florida suppliers. The Department of Sanitation concurs with this recommendation. This recommendation is based on the fact that both Controlled Environments and the manufacturer, County Plastics, submitted identical bids. It has been the practice of the Miami City Commission to award identical bids to local Florida corporations. These tote barrels are an annual purchase used by the Waste Collection Division in the collection of garbage from the back yards and are budgeted in the current operat- ing budget.
