PLoOltIA INI-tti-OPNCE MtMelkANbUM fb: honorable Members of the City Commission aoM: 136 W Alldre%rs City Manager bAtE: MAR 1976 EIS E: SufJECT• Sculpture for Bicentennial Park Agenda Item #14 REFERENCES: ENCLOSURES: On March 12, 1975, a motion was passed (75-248) which declared your intention to provide matching funds in the amount of $45,000 for ac- quiring a grant from the National Endowment for the Arts, previously designated for Interama, in connection with the development of Bicen- tennial Park. Since that time, the City has been awarded the grant which will pay part of the cost to have David von Schlegell construct and supervise the installation of a stainless steel sculpture in Bi- centennial Park. Mr. Schlegell's total bill will be $90)000. Edward Stone and Associates will prepare the site for the sculpture. In order to meet the dollar -for -dollar match requirements of the grant and pay Mr. Schlegell for his services, a sum of $45,000 has been iden- tified in the Parks for People Bond. Fund. A resolution will be intro- duced at the March 4th. Commission Meeting authorizing the appropriation of $45,000 from the Parks for People Bond Fund as matching funds for this grant.
