ENCLOSURES:
Mr. Dads' memo of
February 18, 1976; same
With regard to the referenced memorandum, I quote
Section 2-48.3(B) of the City Code.
"In support of cultural activities necessary to promote
the general welfare of the community, the City Commission
may, by resolution, waive any portion of the rental rate
due under subsection (a) above in excess of the actual
amount necessary for the operation of the Marine Stadium
for the scheduled event.."
Obviously, therefore, it will be appropriate for the
City Commission to waive the rental fee for the Greater
Miami Philharmonic Society, Inc. use of Miami Marine
Stadium, provided they pay all "costs" connected with
each presentation.

The Honorable Maurice Ferre
Mayor, City of Miami
Post Office Box 330708
Miami, Florida 33133
Dear Mayor Ferre:
The Board of the Greater Miami Philharmonic Society has asked
me to project a budget for 5 or 6 concerts to be performed at
Marine Stadium this summer.
In the meantime, we would like to go ahead with two concerts
at Marine Stadium during the current season, on March 6 and
on April 3.
The Miami Herald has once again pledged its support of these
concerts with special advertising and publicity.
The city has in the past waived the Marine Stadium rental for
the Philharmonic, which has made it possible for us to do the
special concerts.
We would like once again to ask for this special dispensation.
We will be grateful for your. consideration.
