HomeMy WebLinkAboutO-08523htd/tb i j7 /1 6 oRb1NANdt NO6 AN oRDtNANCE ESTADLI8RINo SEES EORSDECIALI2 ftECREA'IONAL AND INSTRUCTIONAL CLASSES To BE CONDUCTED $ I'iiE DEPARI'MENT "O ' PARX-8 AND RECREATION, PROVIDINd A 8tVttgAEILITY PhotiISION; REPEALING ALL ORDINANCES oil PARTS tt3EREOI' IN CoNF'LICT; AND PROVIDING POR AN EEI'ECTIVE DATE. 852 WHEREAS, municipalities in Dade County have initiated fees for special recreational and instructional classes and have limited enrollment in such classes to residents, resulting in an increase in the enrollment of City of Miami sponsored recreational and instructional classes; and WHEREAS, instructors' salaries have to be funded for these classes, in addition to the costs for class materials and for the expenses of engaging a band for the adult dances; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF MIAMI, FLORIDA: Section 1. The following fees are established for the below listed specialized classes conducted by the Department of Parks and Recreation: "CLASS FEE RESIDENT NONRESIDENT Dance Instruction: $15 $20 for 10-week class Games Instruction: $15 $20 for 10-week class Slimnastics: $15 $20 for 10-week class Arts & Crafts Instruction $12 $17 for 8-week class Adult Dances: $ 1, $ i" Section 2. It is the intention of the City Commission, and it is hereby ordained that the provisions of this ordinance shall become and be made a part of the Code Qf the City of Miami., Florida; i qf. that the sections of this ordinat de iay bE rehUMbered of felettered to adcoMplish such' intention; and that the woad "ordinance'' May be chancjed to "sect ot`i" , "article", or other appropriate Word. Section 3. All ordinances, code sections or parts of ordinances, insofar as they are inconsistent of in conflict with the provisions of this ordinance are hereby repealed. Section 4. If any section, part of section, paragraph, clause, phrase, or word of this ordinance is declared invalid, the remaining provisions of this ordinance shall not be affected. Section 5. Please prepare for the next appropriate City Commission meeting, AN ORDINANCE ESTABLISHING FEES FOR SPECIALIZED REC- REATION CLASSES FOR THE DEPARTMENT OF PARKS AND RECREATION, Class Dance Instruction: Games Instruction: Slimnastics: Arts a: Crafts Instruction: Adult Dances: Fee $15.00 for 10-week class $15.00 for 10-week class $15.00 for 10-week class $12.00 for 8-week class $1. 00 admission per person Pertinent Information 1. Municipalities in Dade County have initiated fees for special recreation classes and limited enrollment to residents. This has resulted in an increase in enrollment in City of Miami sponsored classes. 2. City residences given priority. Non -residence assessed a $5.00 surcharge. 3. Due to budget cuts, salaries for the instructors for these classes have been terminated. 4. A portion of this anticipated revenue is to be used to fund salaries for instructors for these classes, required materials, and for the expense of engaging a band for the adult dances.
