HomeMy WebLinkAboutR-76-0152RPC/16 1/26/76 RESOLUTION NO._.. 76-152 A RESOLUTION RATIFYING AND APPROVING THE WAIVER OF THE CITY DOCKAGE FEES, AT THE MIAMARINA, FOR THE VESSEL, THE MARY "E", FROM JANUARY 10, 1976 THROUGH FEBRUARY, 1976 AND AUTHORIZING THE SEA VENTURES, A NON-PROFIT ORGANIZATION, WHICH IS SPONSOR- ING THE BICENTENNIAL SAIL PROGRAM, IN C0- OPERATION WITH THE NATIONAL PARK SERVICE, TO RECEIVE DONATIONS FROM THE PUBLIC FOR THE BENEFIT OF SAID PROGRAM DURING THE SAID TIME PERIOD. "SUPPORTIVE POCU M ENT FOLLOW" BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF MIAMI, FLORIDA: Section 1. The waiver of the City dockage fees at the Miamarina from January 10, 1976 through February 1976 for the vessel the MARY "E" be and the same is hereby ratified and approved. Section 2. The Sea Ventures, a non-profit organization, sponsoring the Bicentennial Sail Program, in cooperation with the National Park Service be and is hereby authorized to receive donations from the public for the benefit of the said program during the period of time set forth in Section 1 hereof. The Air Force has gra- ciously allowed us the use of their dock at Turkey Point. E.er: C•r This letter is to request a waiver of the dock fee, retro- active to January 10, at the I•liamarina, and a permit to receive donations for our ship, the Mary "E". Sea Ventures, in cooperation with the National Park Service, is sponsoring the Bicentennial Sail, and part of our activi- ties in Florida call for the i:ary "E" to be available to visitors while in the i'4ami area. This 'would take place on weekends for the per-!od of time between the 1Cth of January and the last weekend in February. In regard to the donation permit, we would like to hold sore donation sails for the benefit of the Sea Ventures, Bicentennial Sail program. It should be noted that Sea Ventures is a non-profit organization. I have enclosed literature about our program for your information. On November 20, 1975, the Na- tional Park Service entered into a Cooperative Agreement with Sea Ventures, a non-profit outdoor educational organization. The purpose of the agreement is to allow expansion of the Sea Ventures environmental education program with urban -oriented parks, whereby, inner-city youth are exposed to the natural environment. The MARY E will be conducting environmental education programs, through the Dade County school system, in Biscayne National Monument. Uniformed employees of the National Park Service will work in close cooperation with representatives of Sea Ventures. Courtesies you are able to offer in support of this program would be appreciated.
