A RESOLUTION URGING THE METROPOLITAN DADE COUNTY
COMMISS IvN To EXPEDITE THE CONSTRUCTION OF THOSE
STRFTS WITHIN TILE CITY OF MIAMI INCLUDED IN
THEIR "DECADE OF PROGRESS" BOND ROAD PROGRAM AND
To IMPLEMENT PRELIMINARY ENGINEERING STUDIES AND
CONSTRUCTION oN THOSE ROAD AND BRIDGE PROJECTS
WITHIN TIIE CITY OF MIAMI INCLUDED IN THE LATEST
FLORIDA DEPARTMENT OF TRANSPORTATION ADVANCE PLAN-
NING PROGRAM WITH EMPHASIS ON THOSE PROJECTS AS
LISTED IN THE "DOWNTOWN MIAMI - A CONCEPTUAL TRANS-
PORTATION PLAN" AND DIRECTING THE CITY CLERK TO
FORWARD COPIES OF THIS RESOLUTION TO THE PROPER

WHEREAS, the State Department of Transprortation is in

WHEREAS, the County has et.zted that prot
Secondary Road Program for 1976-77 will remain essentiaiir
depicted in the report entitled "State Transportation Programs
Proposed for Dade County 1975-76" and updating will of necessity
be largely limited to the last year of the 5-year program (1981-
1982)1 and
WHEREAS, a major portion of the gasoline taxes collected
in Dade County actually comes from within the City Limits of Miami.
it is therefore proper for the City of Miami to have a voice in
requesting specific road and bridge pro •acts to be constructed
within the City Limits' and

needs in Miami for major road and bridge improvements on certain
arterial roads which are eligible for expenditure of funds from'

tion Plan" and advance the preliminary planning for this program
to improve future transportation projects within Downtown Miami/
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COMMISSION OF THE
CITY OF MIAMI, FLORIDA:

3. Widen S. E. 2 Street from S.E. 2 Avenue to Miami Avenue.
4. Increase capacity of North 1 Street from Biscayne Blvd. to the
Miami River.
5. Realign and improve East 3rd Avenue to at least N.E. 2 Street
with possible future extension to N.E. 5 Street.
6. Widen Biscayne Boulevard from N.E. 6 Street to N.R. 13 Street.
7. Develop a Port Boulevard - Biscayne Boulevard separation, and tie
into a one-way pair street system with either N.R. 5 and 6 Street
or 1.E. 6 and 7 Street.
The Miami River Crossing in the Biscayne Boulevard f3rickell Avenue
Corridor was included in last year's 1),O,T. Primary Budget for
Preliminary Engineering for the year 1976-77. This was the only project
of the seven requested under this Plan to be imply: -anted.
