A RESOLUTION ALLOCATING POLICE AND CRIME
PREVENTION BOND FUNDS IN THE AMOUNT OF
$195,000 TO FUND CIVIL SERVICE POSITIONS FOR
THE 1978 CALENDAR YEAR FOR THE CONTINUED
IMPLEMENTATION OF THE COMPUTER. BASED INFOR-
MATION SYSTEM FOR THE MIAMI MODERN POLICE
DEPARTMENT PROGRAM, AND COMPLETION OF ACTUAL
SYSTEMS TESTING AND TRIAL OPERATIONS IN 1978.
WHEREAS, the Civil Service Board had established class-
ifications of Senior Systems Analyst, Analyst/Programmer III
and Analyst/Programmer II; and
WHEREAS, funds in the amount of S150,000 which were
required to fund these positions for the calendar year 1977,
were available in the Police and Crime Prevention Facility
Bond Fund, and accordingly were allocated by Resolution
No. 76-1066, enc-;cted on November 18, 1976; and
WHEREAS, it will be necessary to maintain these pro-
fessional computer positions during the 1978 calendar year
to continue the imulementation of the Police Department's
computer based information systems and complete actual systems
testing and trial operations in 1978; and
WHEREAS, the amount of $195,000 is the amount required
to fund these positions and is available in the Police and
Crime Prevention Facility Bond Fund;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COI MISSION OF THE
"DOCUMENT INDEX
CITY OF MIAMI, FLORIDA: ITEM NO.
Section 1. Funds in the amount of $195,000 from Police
and Crime Prevention Bond Funds are hereby alloc(rted to fund
the required civil service positions for the 1978 calendar year
for the continued implementation of the computer based infor-
mation system for the Miami Modern Police Department Program, and
to complete actual systems testing and trial operations in
1978.

On 18 November 1976, the Citv Commission in Resolution No. 76-1066
allocated ..150,000 from Police Bond monies to fund several Civil
Service po7,itions relating to computer system development for the
calendar year 1977. Such funding out of Police bond monies was

The two programmers who will be picked up upon expiration of the
LIDFE GPA:,T on 31 May 1978 will be needed in development of the
11MPD Ph:se 17 Computer programs during the remainder of the 1978
calendar year. The size of the computer development staff in the
Police De; ert-rnent will later be reduced, through normal attrition,
to the pre ent size and below and their salaries will be funded
through the regular City Budget upon completion of development
ectivitioand commencement of software maintenance functions.
