A RESOLUTION ACCEPTING THE BID OF JULES BROS.
UNIFORMS, INC. FOR FURNISHING UNIFORMS AS NEEDED
ON A CONTRACT BASIS FOR ONE YEAR FROM DATE OF AWARD
FOR THE DEPARTMENT OF POLICE AT A PROPOSED COST OF
$128,472.55, IN ACCORDANCE WITH THE ATTACHED TABULA-
TION; ALLOCATING FUNDS FROM THE 1977-78 FISCAL YEAR
((5LJpr)(- �11CBUDGET; AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER AND THE PUR-
CHASING AGENT TO ISSUE PURCHASE ORDERS, AS NEEDED.

WHEREAS, pursuant to public notice, sealed bids were
received October 12, 1977 for the furnishing of uniforms, as needed,
on a contract basis for one year from date of award for the Depart-
ment of Police; and
WHEREAS, invitations were mailed to 30 potential suppliers
and 2 bids were received; and
WHEREAS, funds for this purchase are available in the
1977-78 Fiscal Year Budget; and
WHEREAS, these materials will be used by the Department
of Police for the purpose of furnishing department uniforms to all
sworn personnel as well as selected personnel throughout the depart-
ment; and
WHEREAS, the City Manager and the Department of Police
recommend that the bid received from Jules Bros. Uniforms, Inc. be
accepted as the most advantageous bid to the City;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COMMISSION OF THE
CITY OF MIAMI, FLORIDA:

Uniform, Inc. for furnishing uniforms, as needed, on a contract
basis for one year from the date of award at a proposed cost of
$128,472.55, in accordance with the tabulation attached hereto and
made a part hereof, is hereby accepted, uith funds hereby allocated
from the 1977-78 Fiscal Year Budget of the Department of Police.
Section 2. The City Manager is hereby authorized to
instruct the Purchasing Agent to issue the Purchase Orders for this
material as needed.

Recommendation for Resolution and
Award of Bid: Police Uniforms
Tabulation
Pursuant to Public Notice, sealed bids were received
October 12, 1977 for furnishing uniforms as needed on
a contract basis for one year from date of award for
the Department of Police.
Invitations were mailed to thirty potential suppliers
and two bids were received as follows:

1977-1978 Fiscal Year Budget.
This purchase represents the annual uniform require-
ments for the Police Department and will be utilized
by all :Acura perlonnel ,rs ve11 as selected civilian
personnel t hruu(fhout the department.
It is recommended that the award be made and a resolu-
tion be prepared accepting the :lost advantageous bid
as received from Jules Hros. Uniform;, Inc. for furnish-
ing uniforms as needed on a contract basis for one year
from date of award at ern approximate cost of $128.472.55.
The Department of Police concurs with this recommendation.

Samples verc submitted by the two bidders and examined
by the Administrative Service `_;eetion of the Miami
Police Department. Some minur variation:; Lo the speci-
fications werr. noted. Letters verc received from both
bidden; informing[ the Cit.} that these variations would
be completely corrected.
Lamar Uniforms vas the luu bidder on fifteen items for
a difference of $4,00.45. Jules Brothers was the low
bidder on thirty iLem for a difference of $6,741.40.
To uu u'd individual items to the 1ov bidder uuuld result
in a savinris of $11,431.B5, but would require police
officers Lu qv to two vendors for measurements, fittings,
warranty adjustments, etc.
Jules Brothers total bid vas $2,060.05 lower than Lamar
Uniforms total bid.
