RESOLUTION NO. 77-896
A RESOLUTION CERTIFYING AND DECLARING
THE RESULTS OP THE REGULAR ELECTION
HELD ON NOVEM1iER 15, 1977 FOR THE
ELECTION OF A CANDIDATE FOR THE OFFICE
OF COMtMMISSIONER, GROUP V, OF THE CITY
OF MIAMI, FLORIDA.
WHEREAS, a regular election was duly held on
November 15, 1977 for election of a candidate to the office
of Commissioner, Group V, of the City of Miami, Florida; and
WHEREAS, said regular election duly followed the
primary election of November 8, 1977, both of which having been
conducted in accordance with the provisions of the "Electronic
Voting Systems Act"(F.S. 101.5601 through 101.5615); and
WHEREAS, the official returns of each of 87 election
precincts in the herein election of November 15, 1977 have been
certified by RALPH G. ONGIE, City Clerk, Supervisor of Elections
for the City of Miami, Florida, and co -certified by the Supervisor
. of Elections of Dade County, Florida, and those official returns
have been delivered to and canvassed by the City Commission;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COMMISSION OF
THE CITY OF MIAMI, FLORIDA:
Section 1. The Commission finds and hereby declares
``and certifies that the following candidates received the number of
votes set opposite their respective names:
GROUP V
For Commissioner
Joe Carollo
Theodore R. Gibson

Section 2. The total number of ballots cast at
election in the 87 voting precincts was 33,455
Section 3. It is hereby certified and declared that
Group V (For Commissioner) Theodore R. Gibson
received a
Iaiority of votes cast in Group V, and he shall be considered
elected and hold said office for a term of four (4) years from
Noon on November 17, 1977.
Section 4. The election was fairly held according
to the provisions of law, and the said returns of the inspectors
and clerks are now found to be correct.
Section 5. The City Clerk is hereby authorized and
directed to perform any and all other incidental duties in connec—
tion herewith as required by law.
PASSED AND ADOPTED this 16th day of November, 1977.
