Proposed Resolution
As part of our continuing efforts to update and strengthen our City
Boards and Committees, I have been in contact with the Chairman of
the Youth Advisory Board, Mr. Oscar Rivera, over a period of several
months. As a result of our conversations and correspondence, we
have produced the attached resolution which changes the name of the
organization from "board" to "committee" and which will more carefully
define this committee's goals, terms of membership, procedures, and
reporting requirements.
Rather than a limitless committee membership, this resolution pro-
poses an upper limit of thirty individuals; and, rather than indef-
inite terms of service, a two-year term is recommended.
Mr. Rivera is in agreement with this approach, and I am informed that
he will be contacting the City Commissioners for suggestions and ad-
vice concerning nominees for appointment to this committees. When
Mr. Rivera accumulates approximately twenty names, he will forward
them to me, and I will then request the standard information and
resume forms from all the nominees prior to submitting them to the
City Commission for appointment.
