According to the County, bids are to be received in May of 1978 and construction scheduled to begin in July. Dedication of the northeast corner of Grand Avenue Park In order to accomplish the proposed plan, it is necessary that the City deed to the County a small portion of the northeast corner of Grand Avenue Park. This is a triangular shaped piece of land involving about .03 acres. It is neces- sary that a resolution be passed which authorizes the City Manager to execute the transfer of this property to Dade County. Although this item has no bearing on the closing of Jefferson Street, it is being placed on the agenda at the same time so that the Commission will be aware that there are two problems in this immediate vicioity. It should be understood that whether Jefferson Street is closed or not, this parcel of land is necessary in order for Grand Avenue to be developed according to the plan. 4447 0 77- rf Y Vincent E. Corner of Grand Avenue Park Deed from Dade County, Option fo: Sale to Dade County, Parcel Sketc Parcel Data Sheet, Memorandum to the Law Department The Public Works Department of Metropolitan Dade County has submitted a copy of their project schedule for the construction of Grand Avenue between U.S ",1 and Douglas Road, According to the schedule, bids will be received for the job in May 1978 and construction is scheduled to begin July 1978. For your infor- mation and detailed review, we are submitting a copy of the project schedule. We have reviewed the request from Metropolitan Dade County for dedication of a parcel of land at the N.E. corner of the Grand Avenue Park for the construction of Grand Avenue between S. W. 37 Ave. and Dixie Highway, The opinion of this Department is that the dedication of this parcel and subsequent construction of Grand Avenue will have no adverse effect upon the usage of the park itself. We also feel that the alignment of the pro- posed construction along Grand Avenue will not have an adverse effect on Jefferson Street. As to the status of closing Jefferson Street, the plans for the construction of the necessary curb and gutter, sidewalk and street pavement have been completed. The plat for the expanded park has been approved by both the Planning Board and the Zoning Board and is now in the hands of the Commission. As you know, the Commission has deferred this item but it should come before them for their reconsideration in the near future. We are returning the Deed and the Option for Sale along with the parcel map and description of the property. We have also prepared Vincent E. Grimm, its September 28, 1977 WE P: GVC : sm Page 2 of 2 • a memorandum to the Department of Law so that you may forward the above documents for their review and processing. We are retaining the right -of -way map for Grand Avenue so that it may be incorporated into our files. 92.04' 5'C.L FenceCl '7".■ to C r ?, rn Force/ Areo=1,339.5.9.Ft Parent Tract Area = 4.47.? Ac.
