A RESOLUTION ACCEPTING THE f3ID OF STAN CRUSE AND ASSOCIATES
FOR FURNISHING AND PLANTING TIFTON GRASS SPRIGS ON 375,000
SQUARE FEET OF LAND IN BAYFRONT PARK FOR THL DEPARTMENT OF
PARKS AND RLCI{LATION AT AN ESTIMATED COST OF $4,644.00;
ALLOCATING FUNDS FROM FLDLRAL GRANI, BAYFRONT PARK PHASE I,
AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER AND THE PURCHASING AGENT TO
ISSUE THL. PURCHASE ORDER F:JR THIS FIATERIAL.
WHEREAS, pursuant to public notice, scaled bids were received
August 30, 1977 for the Furnishing and planting of Tifton grass sprigs
on 375,000 square feet of land in Bayfront Park for the Department of
Parks and Recreation; and
WHEREAS, invitations were mailed to twelve potential suppliers
and three bids were received; and
WHEREAS, funds for this purchase are available in Federal Grant
Bayfront Park Phase I; and
WHEREAS, this material will be used by the Department of Parks
and Recreation for the purpose of beautification of Bayfront Park, Phase I;
and
WHEREAS, the City Manager and the Department of Parks and Recrea-
tion recommend that the bid received from Stan Cruse and Associates be
accepted as the most advantageous bid to the City;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COMMISSION OF LATHE CITY OF
MIAMI, FLORIDA: 'DOCUMENT, INDEX
Section 1. The August 30, 1977 bid of St.7k ri►rrl�t�,�ciates
for furnishing and planting Tifton grass sprigs on 375,000 square feet of
land at an estimated cost of $4,644.OU is hereby accepted with funds hereby
allocated from the Federal Grant, Bayfront Park, Phase I Fund of the De-
partment of Parks and Recreation, for use by said department.
Section 2. That the City Manager is hereby authorized to
instruct the Purchasing Agent to issue a Purchase Order for this material.
PASSED AND ADOPTED this day of OCTOBER 1977.

Recommendation for Resolution and
Award of E3id: Tifton Grass Sprigs
Pursuant to Public Notice, sealed bids were received August 30, 1977
for furnishing and planting Tifton Grass Sprigs for the Department of
Parks and Recreation.
Invitations were mailed to twelve potcntialsuppliers and three bids
were received as follows:

Based on the bid requirements to furnish and plant Tifton Grass Sprigs
on 375,000 square feet of land at a rate of 600 bushels per acre, Southern
Turf Nurseries computed their bid on the basis of $540.U0 per acre, and
Stan Cruse & Associates computed at 90c per bushel making the two bids
equal at $4,644.00 (Stan Cruse & Associates' total price as indicated
on their bid as $4,648.50 is irrelevant due to the fact that payment will
be made on actual field measurements).
In accordance with the City's policy as outlined in Resolution No. 75-673
to give preference to Florida businesses where price, delivery and all
other conditions are equal, it is recommended that the award be made and
a resolution be prepared accepting the most advantageous bid as received
from Stan Cruse & Associates of Palmetto, Florida for furnishing and plant-
ing Tifton truss Springs on 375,000 square feet of land in Bayfront Park
for the Department of Parks and Recreation at an estimated cost of $4,644.00.
The Department of Parks and Recreation concurs with this recommendation.

Based on the bid requirements to furnish and install
Tifton Grass Sprigs on 375,000 square foci of land at
a rate of 600 bushels per acre, Southern Turf Nurseries
computed their bid an the basis of $540.00 per acre,
and Stan Cruse & Associates computed at 900 per bushel
making the tuu bids equal at $4,644.00 (Stan Cruse &
Associates' total price as indicated on their bid as
$4,648.50 is irrelevant because payment will be made
based on field measurements.
The bid of Paul Bannerman was for furnishing and in-
= stalling Full sad rather than sprigging.
ADDITIONAL INFORt•1ATION: Resolution Nu. 75-673 establishes a policy to award
bids to Florida businesses uhen price, delivery and
all other conditions are equal. Stan Cruse & Asso-
ciates is located in Palmetto, Florida and Southern
Turf Nurseries is in Tifton, Georgia.
RECOMMENDATION: IT IS IZLCOt1F1LNDFD IHAF IFIL AWARD BE MADE TO STAN
CRUSE & ASSOCIAICS.
