Homan 1 • October 13, 1977 Filling two vacancies on the Environmental Preservation REview Board p.rFT r,rNCE.S F.NCLCSURCS There are presently two vacancies on the seven -member Environmental Preservation Review Board. One vacancy must, by Ordinance, be filled by the Commission's selection of a candidate from a list furnished by the Dade County Chapter, Florida Growers and Nurserymen Association. This association furnished a list of four names; the correspondence is attached. However, upon contacting Mr. John Ruggiero, I discovered that he was not able to serve on the Board at this time. The City Commission will be requested to make its selection and appointment by resolution on the October 26, 1977 Agenda. This appointment will fill the vacancy created by the resignation of :1r. David Sinclair. The remaining vacancy was created some time ago, when Mr. Raul Alvarez, then an Alternate Member, resigned due to pressures of other commitments. Recently, the composition of the Board was slightly altered to make the former "Alternates" full voting members. Since there is no Spanish-speaking member on the Board, and since Mrs Cardenas of the Building Department will no longer be serving as Administrative Assistant to the Board, the nomination of Mrs. Julia R. Fernandez, a landscape designer at F.I.U. and a co-operator of a nursery, was recommended by Mr. Gerardo Salman, Building Director, and formally requested by Commissioner Reboso. Her candidacy will provide needed Spanish-speaking capability for this Board in addition to her other qualifi- cations.
