Home My WebLink AboutR-77-0824ME.; k 9/29/77 RESOLUTION NO. 77-824 A RESOLUTION GRANTING PERMISSION TO DREDGE AND BULKHEAD PROPERTY OWNED BY THE APPLICANT, METRO DADE COUNTY, SHEETS 1 TO 3, DATED DECEMBER 20, 1976, COPIES OF WHICH ARE ATTACHED HERETO, ON THE PROPERTY KNOWN AS DODGE ISLAND PORT, BISCAYNE BAY AT NEW PORT OF MIAMI, AS PER PLANS ON FILE, SUBJECT TO APPROVAL FROM THE STATE OF FLORIDA AND THE U.S. ARMY CORPS OF ENGINEERS; ZONED W-I (WATERFRONT INDUSTRIAL). WHEREAS, the Miami Zoning Board, at its meeting of September 19, 1977, Item No. 8, following an advertised hearing, adopted Resolution No. ZB 148-77 by a 6 to 0 vote, recommending approval of Dade County's application for dredging and bulkheading; and WHEREAS, the City Commission, after due deliberation and careful consideration of the application, deems it to be in the public interest to grant the approval as hereinafter set forth; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF MIAHI , FLORIDA: Section 1. The application for permission to dredge and bulkhead property owned by the applicant, Metro Dade County, Sheets 1 to 3, dated December 20, 1976, copies of which are attached hereto, or the property known as Dodge Island Port, Biscayne Bay at New Port of Miami, as per plans on file, subject to approval from the State of Florida and the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers; zoned W-I (Waterfront Industrial), be and the same is hereby granted. EXPLANATION Applicant requests permission for maintenance dredging at. the Port. R ECOMMENDATION PLANNING DEPARTMENT ,'ONING BOARD APPROVAL IN ACCORD WITH PLANS ON FILE AND SUBJECT TO LANDSCAPE PLAN APPROVAL BY THE PLANNING DEPARTMENT. OF FUTURE CONSTRUC- TION: The work proposed by the subject petition is in accord with the overall plans for the Port of Miami. The Dredge and fill request is pursuant to the proposed expansion of the southerly portion of the port site for shed storage facilities. The condition of landscape re- view and approval is to insure the facilities constructed will be properly designed with and landscaping integrated in the proposals, in the interest of the general public. The Ecological impact as reported by DNR is not signi- ficant in light of existing conditions and the overall benefits to be derived in the providing of adequate port facilities for the region.
