A RESOLUTION CONDITIONALLY AUTHORIZING
TEE CLOSING OF CERTAIN STREETS IN COCONUT
GROVE ON NOVEMBER 6, 1977, FOR THE 6TH
ANNUAL TOUR OF COCONUT GROVE BICYCLE RACE.
WHEREAS, since 1972, there has been an annual bicycle
:'Coconut Grove; and
WHEREAS, the bicycle race brings publicity to;the City;
WHEREAS, this is an eventwhich may be viewed: by ,at gone
interested at no cost;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COMMISSION OF THE
CITY OE MIAMI, FLORIDA:
Section 1. a. The closing of the following streets
Coconut Grove on November 6, 1977, for the 6th Annual Tour of
Coconut Grove Bicycle Races, is hereby authorized:
Grand Avenue from McFarlane to Mary Street;
'.Mary Street from Grand Avenue to Bayshore;
Bayshore Drive from :Mary Street to McFarlane;
McFarlane to Grand Avenue.
b. The above authorization is conditioned
the granting of a permit for such closing by the Police and
Departments.

Dear Vince:
I would like to inform you that the 6th Annual Tour of Coconut
Grove race will be held Sunday, November 6th from 12 noon
until 6 pm. Accordingly I am requesting that the streets of
downtown Coconut Grove be closed to traffic as in the past,
but using a shorter route. See enclosed map.
This years race will allow novice participation in all
categories and will also include one running event.
I am particularly anxious to develop more bicycle riders so
that the Velodrome, to which the city is committed, can have strong
local support, which will then ensure its success. I would like
to meet with you to explore a regular schedule of open bicycle
racing on this shorter Tour of Coconut Grove course.
The many positive benefits of encouraging citizen cycling activity
in Miami should not be overlooked and merits serious consideration.
I will be calling you shortly to discuss these matters.
