While the Miami Memorial Committee has been in existence for some
14 years, it has been somewhat unclear as to what constitutes its as-
signed task and specific function. Mention has also been made of the
desirability of promoting cultural diversity as much as possible on
this committee. in keeping with the character of the City of Miami.
Thefrefore, I considered it appropriate to draft a resolution updating
this committee and assigning it functions which will give it a clear
mandate from the City Commission as to its objectives.
The Mayor has suggested that Mrs. John E. Culmer, wife of the Culmer
area leader, be appointed to this committee. Her resume and personal
information summary are being forwarded to the Commission. The re-
maining, twelve individuals being appointed to the Memorial Committee
are currently members, so background information on each of them,
while being, solicited for our records, is not being provided to the Com-
mission as part of this agenda item.
The City Commission should be aware of the two added positions on
this committee being created with the approval of this resolution. The
Commission is requested to forward to your office the narnes and ad-
dresses of individuals who meet the requirements for membership on
the Memorial Committee and who would be willing to serve.
