FLORIDA INTEROFFICE MEMORANDUM TO Members of the City Commission FROM: Maurice A. Ferre Mayor DATE. July 28, 1977 P1Lt: `u•'E`T First Year Anniversary of the City Manager REFERENCES: ENCLOSURES: Just over a year ago the members of the City Commission authorized me as Mayor to negotiate the terms of employ- ment with the person who was to become the new City Manager for the City of Miami. In my talks with Joe Grassie, he felt that the pay for the job should be $52,000, which was approximately what the City was paying at the time. I agreed to propose to the City Commission that the initial salary be $47,000, and that the salary be raised to $52,000 within the year, based on satisfactory performance. After discussing this recently with the City Manager, I have concluded that instead of proposing a salary increase, I would recommend that the City take the following steps: a) pay the employee's 8% contribution towards the City executive retirement plan (cost - $3,760) in addition to the City's current contribution as made for all employees; and b) in- crease the Manager's official business expense account from $2,500 per year to $4,500. If the members of the City Commission approve this recommen- dation, it should be formalized through adoption of a resolution. 17 IL' IEA/Yh 7/28/77 RESOLUTION NO.
