Pursuant to Public Notice, sealed bids were received
January 14, 1977 for furnishing 33 stationary planters
for the Department of Parks and Recreation.
On March 16, 1977, the City Commission passed Resolution
Number 77-244 awarding the bid to J. & J. Installations
at a total cost of $7,422.00, and a purchase order was
issued which required that shop drawings be approvedby
the project architect. J. & J. Installations submitted
the drawings and the architect refused to approve them
because of the excess weight.
The attached letter from J. & J. Installations advises_
that they cannot produce the planters within the,:sPeci-
fied weight limit and that they will accept' cancellation
of the purchase order.
S. Ponce, the next lowest bidder.` (letter attached)'is
willing to honor their bid and will produce the planters
in accordance with the architect's specifications. They
: are currently performing other work on the park project.
The time schedule of the project makes it urgent to de-
liver these planters as soon as possible.
It is requested that a resolution be prepared rescinding
the award to J. & J. Installations, cancelling the pur
chase order and accepting the next lowest bid of S. Ponce.
as the most advantageous bid at a total cost of $13,318
with funds to be allocated from the Parks for People
Bond Fund.
