Article XII of the Agreement with the Fraternal Order of Police and Article 19 of the Agreement with the International Association of Firefighters provides for a 3ti% salary increase for fiscal year 1976-77. The projected cost of these salary increases is as follows: Police bepartment $486,632 Fire Department 437,.179 Total $923,811 Police and Fire personnel salary increases were legislated in the 1976-77 Adopted Budget. However, these appropriations were placed in Special Programs and Accounts and not in the Police and Fire departments in which the expenditures occur. The attached ordinance proposes to transfer $923,811 from Special Programs and Accounts, 312% Reserve for Salary Adjustments, to the Police and Fire budgets. This action will serve to update the accounting records and place the responsibility for managing these appropriations within the appropriate departments. Attachment cc: Joel T.
