WHEREAS, this claim has been investigated by the Office
of the City Attorney and said Office- recommends that this claim
be settled for the sum of $1,003.00.,
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COMMISSION OF THE„
CITY OF MIAMI , FLORIDA:
Section. I. That the Director of Finance be and he
hereby authorized to pay:to ARLEtE.PURTIC and her attorney,
.HARVEY S. LANGBERG, without admission ofliability, the sum of
$1,003.00 in full and complete settlement of all claims and
demandsagainst the City of Miami, upon the execution of a release
releasing the City of Miami from all claims and demands.

Building Department and the Police Department.

The Building Department has 'requested :42 fourohannel.
radios to provide for more efficient assignment and
onitorihng of the field inspectors. The Department'. of
Management Services has examined three options for
funding the Building Department's request, The options
, Are: (I) outright purchase; (2) lease purchase; and
(3) acquisition of radios that the Police Department'.
is planning to replace, and purchase of related equip-
inent. The Police radios will become available because
that department plans to replace four -channel radios'
with eight -channel radios.
Over a : seven-year period, the length of time in 'which a
lease purchase. would be completed, we have .found.that
Option, No. 3 -acquisition of Police Department' radios
and thepurchase of support equipment - would be the least
expensive. The following is a seven-year cost comparison',
of the three:. options:

On AUgust let, 1976, Mts. Arlene Purtic, a 39 year old waitress,
tripped and fell on a cracked sidewalk located neat the 600 bloCk
of Northeast 27th Street, Miami, Florida, This sidewalk is With-
• in the Public Right of Way and is owned and maintained by the City
of Miami. There was an eyewitness to this slip and fall. The
attorney for Mrs. Purtic, Mr. Langberg has submitted medical and
specials in the amount of $1,003.00 and his total demand was for
$6,50o,0o. After negotiation, Mr. Langberg has agreed to settle
this claim for $1,003.00, the total amount of the specials and
medical payments.
• Based upon the recommendation of Mr. Mario Santana, Legal investigator
of .this office, I recommend that the above claim be settled for the
• above listed amount. •
