The State of Florida and Metropolitan Dade County are hereby urged to participate together with the City of Miami in the further development of BICENTENNIAL PARK in the City of Miami, Florida. Ongie, City tiler City of Miami tot Office Box 708 Miami, Florida 33133 Dear Mr. Ongiet Governor Askew has asked me to respond to your letter of , May 30, 1977 transmitting City Commission Resolutiop._77.1-_393 _.-_ regarding Bicentennial Park. Since information was not enclosed relative to the nature of the proposed future development of the Park and the type of state assistance desired, my staff contacted Mr. Howard of your Parks Department. Mr. Howard indicates that future development will include acquisition of approximately 20 acres of adjacent land which belongs to the Florida East Coast Railroad. The Division of Recreation and Parks of the Department of Natural Resources administers a grant program for acquisition of outdoor recreation lands which is funded by the Land and Water Conservation Fund of the U. S. Department of Interior. By copy of this letter, I am asking Mr. James W. Pearce, who administers this grant program, to provide your office with information regarding eligibility requirements, matching requirements, and application forms.
