TO ACCEPT A GRANT AWARD IN THE AMOUNT of
$50,000 FROM TUE NATIONAL ENDOWMENT FoR
TUE ARTS t'oR A NEIGHBORHOOD ARTS PROGRAM
AND PURTHtR AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER
TO EXECUTE THE NECESSARY CONTRACTS AND
AGREEMENTS TO IMPLEMENT THE PROGRAM UPON
RECEIPT of THE GRANT.
WHEREAS, the National Endowment for the Arts has
tentatively approved a grant award of $50,000 to the City of
Miami for a Neighborhood Arts Program; and
WHEREAS, this program will result in the provision
of art programs for City residents; and
WHEREAS, the City Commission wants the City of Miami
to take an active role in the provision of cult

the community; and
WHEREAS, the sum of $13,000 which is the City's
required hard cash funding contribution is available from
1967-77 budgeted funds of the Parks and Recreation Department;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COMMISSION OF
THE CITY OF MIAMI, FLORIDA:
Section 1. The City Manager is hereby authorized to
accept a grant award in the amount of $50,000 from the National
Endowment for the Arts for a Neighborhood Arts Program.
Section 2. The City Manager is hereby authorized to
execute the necessary contracts and agreements to implement the
Neighborhood Arts Program upon receipt of the grant.

The National Endowment for the Arts has "tentatively" approved
a grant award in the amount of $ 50 , 000 to the City of Miami
to operate a "neighborhood arts program". Attached is a fact
sheet providing more detailed information on the program.
Passage of the attached draft resolution will authorize you
to accept the grant and enter into agreements necessary to carry
out the program.

To expand the existing community programs in the
arts in various City neighborhoods with funds
going to these croups for actual artistic
programming. This financial support will strengthen
the administrative services to the ten (10)
associations that have been working with the City
in presenting low-cost events throughout the
community, thus allowing the smaller arts
organization some of the needed advantages to
proper in obtaining community sponsorship.
