BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COMMISSION OP THE CITY Or MIAMI, FLORIDA: Section 1. A policy governing the appointments of individuals to serve on City of Miami boards and committees is hereby established. Section 2. The purpose of the herein policy is to uniformly administer the numerous requests to consider and appoint certain individuals to the various City boards and committies and to assist the City Commission by establishing a routine procedure for notifying the Commissioners of all pending appointments, term expirations, and reappointments. Section 3. In order to accomplish these purposes, the City Commission declares that its policy shall be that the City Manager will receive and process all nominations for appoint- ments to boards and committees accordin5ctuViromdm des- cribed herein: ITEM NO -93 ____ A. A member of the secretarial staff of the City Manager shall be designated as "Liaison Secretary" and will maintain records of all City boards and committees and will notify the Commission when (1) unexpected vacancies occur and notification of this is received; and (2) anticipated vacancies or term expirations occur. This notification will occur as soon as possible in the case of unexpected vacancies or two months prior to scheduled reappointments due to term expirations. B. commissioners will then contact individuals they wish to nominate for an appointment in order to deter:erc::::::: they will be willing to serve. MAR2 4 1977" MEETING OF w% • AlICF A. FERRE MAYOR C: Commietioftere will then notify the designated Liait0h Secretary of the name and address of the individual who is considered a willing nominee for a particular position to be filled. b. The tiaison Secretary will contact the individual to be dominated, request a resume and request that theindividual complete a personal information form that has been approved by the Commission. E. one month prior to an expired ternh the Liaison Secretary will distribute to all Commissioners all then available background forms received from proposed nominees. P. Appointments will occur on regular Commission Meeting days. One meeting prior to that clay, the Commission will discuss a prospective appointment, and a nominee will be selected by majority vote —in the form of a motion. G. The Commission will ratify and formalize its action by resolution on the date of the appointment. PASSED AND ADOPTED this 214TH day of MARCH 1977. ATTEST: L G.
