RESOLUTON No, 77.281
A RESOLUTION POINTING OUT THAT THE b FIN:I_NG
OF NATIONAL OBJECTIVES FOR AIR TRANsPORTA 'ION
SHOULD Ri CEIVE THE IMMEDIATE ATTENTION OF
CONGRESS BEFORE THE PASSAGE OF ANY LEGISLA.-
'PION DEREGULATING THE NATION'S COMMERCIAL AIR
TRANSPORTATION SYSTEM; FURTHER URC flIG CONGRESS
TO INSIST THAT NO SACRIFICE OF SAFETY STANDARDS
BE PERMITTED UNDER THE GUISE OF bEREGULATION
AND URGING CONGRESS TO DEMAND THAT RELIABILITY
OF SERVICE BE A CONTROLLING FACTOR IN CON-
GRESSIONAL DELIBERATION OF ANY SUCH DEREGULATORY
LEGISLATION.
WHEREAS, the Civil Aeronautics Board (CAE) regulates
routes, fares and competition within the airline industry; and
WHEREAS, the deregulation of commercial air trans-
portation would abolish the authority of the CAB; and
WHEREAS, congressional hearings are presently pending
on legislation that would :leregulate commercial air transporta-
tion; and
WHIEREAS, the General Accounting Office, an investi-
gative congressional agency, has recommended that the CAB
"continue t.o work toward improving airline efficieny under its
existing legislation...."; and
W'IIEREAS, all members of Congress from those districts
serving the City of Miami aro urged to make certain that Congress
provide the CAB with legislative guidance on the amount of needed

NOW, 'IihTEFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COMMISSION OF
THE CITY OV MIAM1 , FLORIDA
Section 1, The defining of national objectives for

demand that reliability of service be a controlling factor
