VISITING DIGNITARIES" IOR THE PURPOSE
OE PROVIDING APPROPRIATE SERVICES, OEt ICIAI
GREETINGS, AND OTHER SPECIAL TREATMENT HEEIT�
TING =DISTINGUISHED VISITORS To THE CITY OE
MIAMI, AND PROVIDING POR THE APPOINTMENT OP
INDIVIDUALS TO THIS COMMITTEE, AND DESCRIt3ING
THE STRUCTURE OP THIS COMMITTEE.
WHEREAS, it is the desire of the Miami City
Commission to create a Committee for Visting Dignitaries to
provide Distinguished Visitors to the City of Miami with speciai
courtesies and services appropriate for these special occasions;
and
WHEREAS, it is anticipated that each Commissioner
should be able to convince two public spirited citizens of the
Greater Miami area to serve on this Committee with no compensation
for their services; and
WHEREAS, the Mayor is the official Head of the City
for all ceremonial purposes and as such ought to be able to select
the Chairperson of the above Committee; and
WHEREAS, staggered terms of Committee Members would
help maintain a continuity in the Committee's function; and
WHEREAS, a written charter, or statement, describing
the structure, functions, and other requirement16 r'T rlN 6°ErX

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COMMISSION OF
THE CITY OF MIAMI, FLORIDA:
Section 1. The Committee For Visting Dignitaries
is hereby created.
Section 2. The purpose of this Committee is to provide
formal welcoming functions, transportation where necessary, sight-
seeing, and other appropriate services for distinguished visitors
to the City of Miami.
Section 1.(a) The following persons are appointed
to serve on the aforesaid Committee in the capacity and for the

(iV) Appointment of Members to fill the vacancies
treated by the expiration of terms as set forth in Subsection (ii)
hereof shall be made at the first regular Commission Meeting in
December 197/ and each DeceMber thereafter.
(v) Appointment of Members to fill the vacancies
created by the expiration of terms in Subsections (i) and (iii)
hereof shall be made at the first regular Commission Meeting in
December, 1978: said Members to serve until December 31, 1980.
(b) Any vacancy occurring prior to the expiration
of the term shall be filled by Commission appointment of a Member
to serve the unexpired term of office. Said appointment shall be
made at the first regular Commission Meeting following the creation
of the vacancy or as soon thereafter as possible.
Section 4. The herein Committee shall remain in
existence until December 31, 1980, and shall meet upon proper public
notice at the call of the Chairperson or his or her designee.
