Ordinance No, 8576, passed and adopted on September 23, 1976, provided
$3,100 to Action Community Center for a down payment on a motor vehitle
to be used for transporting handicapped persons. Discussion related to
the adoption of that ordinance, indicated that an additional $6,900
would be provided within the 1976-77 Federal Revenue Sharing -Social
Service allocation, to complete the cost of the vehicle and wheelchair
lift. Those funds were not provided,
Presently, the program is providing services to approximately 900 reSi-
dents per month, With the addition of a vehicle and wheelchair lift,
the program would be able to serve an additional 20 persons per week.
The additional service would go to a specialized group (handicapped)
that continue to need transportation services.
With the additional $6,900, plus the $3,100 previously provided, the
program would then have S10,000. The vehicle and lift would cost $6,000
leaving S4,000 for insurance, maintenance, and operating costs.
Federal Revenue Sharing carry-over funds have been identified and an
ordinance is provided for this purpose. A breakdown of the present and
proposed budgets is attached.
