OP THE CIVIL SERVICE RULES AND REGULATIONS OP THE CVVY OP MIAMt, FLORIDA, E 'PECTIVE DECEMBER 15, 1961, AS AM:Et4DEO, AS CONTAINED IN ORDINANCE NO. 694S, AS AMENDED, BY REPEAL.. SAID SECTION S IN ITS ENTIRETY; REPEALING ALL OTHER ORDINANCES OR PARTS THEREOP IN CON- P'LICT HEREWITH. WHEREAS, the Civil Service Hoard at its meeting on Janu- ary 4, 1977, unanimously approved an amendment to the City oaf Miami Rules and Regulations which repeals Section S of Rule VIII, which states: "Section 5. Department preference: Any City employee who has permanent status in a classi- fication and who competes in any competitive examination for a position in his own department shall be given a departmental preference of ten points to be added to his earned score." NOW, THEREFORE, I3E IT ORDAINED BY THE COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF MIAMI, FLORIDA: Section 1. Rule VIII, Section 5, of the Civil Service Rules and Regulations of the City of Miami, Florida, effective Dec- ember 15, 1961, as amended, as contained in Ordinance No. 6945, as amended, is hereby repealed in its entirety. Section 2. All other ordinances or parts of ordinances, insofar as they are inconsistent or in conflict with the provisions of this ordinance, are hereby repealed. Rules and Regulations Attached hereto it an amendment to Ordinance 6945 (City of Miami Civil Service Pula and Regulationa) which has been prepared by George F. Knox, Jr., City Attorney, pursuant to my request dated January 5, 1977 following the Civil Service Board's approval of the amendment at its meeting on January 4, 1977. It is respectfully requested that this amendment be placed an the City Commission Agenda as soon as possible to enable the Commission to consider adoption of the amend- ment to the Civil Service Rules and Regulations as required under Section 63 of the Charter. Department Preference: Any City employee who has permanent status in a classification and who competes in any competitive examination for a position in his own department shall be given a departmental preference of ten points to be added to his earned score." Attached hereto is a copy of Civil Service Information Bulletin #96, dated November 30, 1976 which served as notice of the proposed change. Please prepare an amendment to Ordinance 6945 for presentation to the Miami City Commission to ratify the Rule Change adopted by the Board. Paulk, Jr. Executive Secretary Civil Service Board DATE: November 30, 1976 SUIJ: Proposed Amendment to Civil Service Rules; Section 6 of Rule VII! An amendment to the City of Miami Civil Service Rules, Ordinance #6946, WAS proposed at the Civil Service Surd Meeting on November 30, 1976 and a public bearing it scheduled == for 9:1S A.M., January 4, 1977, to consider the proposed amendment. The proposal will be placed on the regular Civil Service Board Meeting Agenda on that date and the meeting will be held at City Mall, 3600 Pan American Drive, Dinner Key. The effect of the amendment as proposed is to repeal Section 5 of Rule Vill, which states "Section S. Departmental Preference: Any City employee who has permanent status in a classification and who competes in any competitive examination for a position in his own department shall be given departmental preference of ten points to be added to his earned score."
