As you are aware, the clock started running on the City's grant for the Leavy Equipment Service Facility on January 27. We are attempting to have this date modified to the date that the City received the grant offer, which was February 9, However, over $2,700,000 is at stake and it is the staff's opinion, after per,- sonally visiting Atlanta, that the 90 day requirement to have construction on the site WILL NOT EE WAIVED. In anticipation of receiving the grant offer, the City placed an ad for consultants, inviting them to submit letters of interest to the City no later than 5 Pm, February 14. Thirty-one propbsalS were received. Your committee, consisting of myself, Eddie Cox and bick Fosrnoen, reviewed the information submitted and have selected four consultants who might perform the services required. to guiding the committee in their review, they established the following broad criteria: 1. All fires must have their principal offices in Dade County. 4. The firms rAviewe.1 ruse, - -ug'^ the size of their own org .icatio:: or ti:roL partners or joint •venture, have all t:.e tee nical ex -ise : i ary tc carry the•. job from start •to finish.• 3. The Committee reviewed fir who had particular experience in the type facility or sirilar type facilities that the City plans to build. The Committee interviewed the following Connell, Metcalf i Eddy Ferendino, Graftc:., Spillis, Greenleaf/Telesc Morton/L•;olfberg/Alvarez Taracido/Seiglie & Frese Page 1 of 2 four firms: Candela NE. 7 -- /7r- i During the interview process, particular emphasis was placed oh enthusiasm for the project, ability to perform Within the extremely tight time frame, and their knowledge and experience in desigh of similar type facilities. As a result of these interviews, the committee's unanimous recommendation is that the City hire the firm of Morton/Wolfberg/ Alvarez/TatYacido/Seiglie & Frese. It is extremely important to the City that the 'Committee's recom- mendation be ratified by the Commission on the 24th of February. This will enable the consultant to start work on the 25th with the full knowledge that a formal agreement will need to be developed and ratified by the Commission. Page 2 of 2
