RECEIVE THE AMOUNT OF $34758,187 FROM TEE U.S.

DEVELOPMENT ADMINISTRATION OFFER OP GRANT
DATED ?MOW! 8, 197'7 FOR THE RENOVATION
OF THE DINNER XEY RECREATION CENTER, FURTHER
AUTHORIZING "TIE CITY MANAGER To ACCEPT AND
RECEIVE BIDS AND AWARD CONTRACTS FOR THE
VARIOUS PHASES OF CONSTRUCTION OF THE AFORESAID
RENOVATION WITH FUNDS THEREFOR TO BE EXPENDED
PROti TITLE I FUNDS PURSUANT TO THE AFORESAID
GRANT; SUBJECT TO THE FURTHER CONDITION TIIAT
THE AWARD Or CONSTRUCTION CONTRACTS BE MADE
TO THE LOWEST RESPONSIBLE BIDDER AND FURTHER
SUBJECT TO THE LIMITATION OF Tt1E EXPENDITURE
OF FUNDS IN AN AMOUNT NOT TO EXCEED THE AFORESAID
GRANT OF $3,758,1.87.
WHEREAS, the City of Miami has received an Offer
of Grant dated February 8, 1977 from the U.S. Department of
Commerce in the amount not to exceed $3,758,1.87 for the
renovation of the Dinner Key Recreation Center; and
WHEREAS, renovation must be under way within 90
days from February 8, 1977; and
WHEREAS, these funds could be lost if the City does
not comply with the schedule; and
WHEREAS, it is in the best interests of the City
that the City Manager be authorized to accept the aforesaid
grant and to receive bids and award contracts to the lowest

responsible bidders; and

WHEREAS, regular procedures will e followed ice"
at all applicable; and
WHEREAS, all actions taken by the Manger will be
subsequently presented to the City Commission for ratification;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COMMISSION OF
THE CITY OP MIAMI, FLORIDA;
Section 1. The City Manager is hereby authorized
to receive the amount of $3,758,187 from the U.S, Department
of Commerce through its Economic Development Administration

geCtion 26 The City Manager is hereby aUthori2ed
to adcept and receive bids and award contracts for the vatioug
phases of construction as may be necessary for the aforesaid
renoVation of the antler Xey Recreation Center, with funds
therefor to be expended from Title I funds from the U.S.
Department of Commerce through the Economic Oevelopment Adminis-
tration pursuant to the aforesaid Grant dated February 8, 1977,
subject to the further condition that the award of construction
contracts be made to the lowest responsible bidder and further
subject to the limitation of expenditure of funds in an amount
not to exceed the aforesaid Grant of $3,758,187.
