WHtRtAS, Metropolitan Dade County Ordinance 75-S4
requires all structures 40 years of age or older be structurally
evaluated by a profeSSional architect or engineer registered in
the State of Florida, for continued safe occupancy; and
WHEREAS, the City has 4 buildings over 40 years
of age which require the professional services of a registered
architect or engineer, to wit:
City Hall, 3500 Pan American Drive
Dinner Key Coast Guard Building, 2500 So. Bayshore Drive
Lummus Park Building, 250 N.W. North River Drive
Dallas Park Hotel, 111 S.E. 3 Street;
and
WHEREAS, $20,000 is needed to secure proper outside
professional services to cover the structural evaluations on these
4 buildings to comply with Metropolitan Dade County Ordinance 75-34;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COMMISSION op THE
CITY OF MIAMI, FLORIDA:

Section 1. The proper officials of the City of Miami
are hereby authorized and directed to spend a sum not in excess
of $20,000 for the purpose of securing professional services for
the structural evaluation of 4 City -owned buildings, with funds
therefor hereby allocated from the Contingency Fund,
PASSED AND ADOPTED this 24th day of February, 1977.

Metropolitan bade County Ordinance 75-34 requires that
all buildings forty years of age or older be structurally
evaluated to determine if the', are safe for continued
occupancy.
The City has four buildings which Assistant City Manager
Charles Crumpton has advised will require outside pro-
fessional evaluation. The attached is a draft of the
resolution requesting release of funds for the professional
services required to comply with this ordinance, as re-
quested, for the following city buildings:
City Hall, 3500 Pan American Drive
Dinner Key Coast Guard Ruilding, 2600 S Bayshore Drive
Lummus Park Building, 250 7 North River Drive
Dallas Park Hotel, 111 S 3 Street

It is requested that a resolution be prepared for City Commission
approval, authorizing the expenditure of $20,000.00 froth the
Contingency Fund to cover the cost of structural evaluations of
four City -Owned buildings:
(1) City Hall, 3500 pan American Drive
(2) Dinner Key Coast Guard Building, 2600 South Bayshore Drive
(3) Lutrgtnus Park Building, 250 NW North River Drive
(4) Dallas Park Hotel, 111 SE 3 Street
It is necessary for these buildings to be structurally evaluated
in compliance with the recently adopted Metropolitan Dade County
Ordinance 75-34, which requires that all buildings forty years of
age or older be structurally evaluated by a professional architect
or engineer, registered in the state of Florida.
Personnel of the City of Miami Public Wer s Department have con-
ducted the structural evaluation of several City -owned buildings.

these four structures, thereby making it necessary to seek outside
professional services to conduct the structural evaluation.
