WHEREAS the Miami Zoning Board at its Meeting of October 4, 1976, Item No. 1, following an advertised hearing, adopted Resolution No. ZB 154-76 by a 7 to 0 Vote recommending the official vacation and closure of that portion of N.W. 5th Avenue between N.W. 60th Street and N.W. 62nd Street, in conjunction with Tentative Plat No. 965 - "MAMI EDISON SCHOOL SITE FIRST ADD"; and WHEREAS, the City Commission deems it advisable and in the best interest of the general welfare of the City of Miami and its inhabitants to grant the vacat3} and closure as herein- BOCUMENT)NDEX after set forth; ITEM NO +_ NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF MIAMI, FLORIDA: Section 1. That portion of N.W. 5th Avenue between N.W. 60th Street and N.W. 62nd Street, in conjunction with Tentative Plat No. 965 - "MIAMI EDISSON SCHOOL SITE FIRST ADD" be and the same is hereby closed, vacated, abandoned and discontinued for public use. o1) 1976. (Tentative Plat #965 "MIAM/ PD/SCN SCHOOL, SITE P111STA3t") bade County Board of Public Instruction 6/15/76 bade County Board of Public instruction Official vacation and closure of that portion of NW 5th Avenue between NW 60th Street and NW 62nd Street in conjunction with Tentative Plat #965 = " MIAM1 E DISCN SCHOOL SITE PIRST Ants. " The School Board requested the City to close a. portion of NW 5th Avenue for the new Miami Edison Senior l-ligh School complex proposed to be built partly over the street. The City Commission on July 1, 1976, adopted a. resolution of intent (76-641) granting the School Board's request to close the street for construction purposes subject to approval. of Tentative Plat #965 and referral to the Zoning Board in accordance with the provisions of the Code. The Zoning Board following three public hearings granted the street closure, after it was concluded that there were no alternative circulation solutions since the closure of the street would inconvenience area residents by restricting north -south access to NW 2nd Avenue. APPROVAL: The Plat and Street Committee at their meeting 6/23/76 recommended approval of tentative plat #965 by a 7-0 vote subject to: 1. Alteration, relocation or installation of utilities at the property owner's expense. 2. Any necessary utility easements. 3. No building permits to be issued on the site until all necessary utility easements have been established by a letter or sketch from the several utilities involved. 4. Three (3) persons present at the Zoning $oa.rd hearing expressed their objection that the closure of NW 5th Avenue would require greater travel distance to their homes. Three (3) written ob jections were received stating similar reasons. W. 5th Avenue between N. W. 60th Street and N. W. 62nd Street, in conjunction with Tentative Plat #965 - "MIAMI EDISON SCHOOL SITE FIRST ADD". Three objectors were present at the meeting; Fourteen in favor of this item were present at the meeting. Three objections were received in the mail. A RESOLUTION to provide for this closure has been prepared by the City Attorney's office and submitted for consideration of the City Commission.
