Official vacation and closure of that portion of NW 5th Avenue

PIRST Ants. "
The School Board requested the City to close a. portion of
NW 5th Avenue for the new Miami Edison Senior l-ligh School
complex proposed to be built partly over the street. The
City Commission on July 1, 1976, adopted a. resolution of
intent (76-641) granting the School Board's request to close
the street for construction purposes subject to approval. of
Tentative Plat #965 and referral to the Zoning Board in
accordance with the provisions of the Code.
The Zoning Board following three public hearings granted the
street closure, after it was concluded that there were no
alternative circulation solutions since the closure of the street
would inconvenience area residents by restricting north -south
access to NW 2nd Avenue.
APPROVAL: The Plat and Street Committee at their meeting
6/23/76 recommended approval of tentative plat #965 by a 7-0
vote subject to:
1. Alteration, relocation or installation of utilities at the
property owner's expense.
2. Any necessary utility easements.
3. No building permits to be issued on the site until all
necessary utility easements have been established by
a letter or sketch from the several utilities involved.
4. Public Hearing for closure of NW 5th Avenue.

A,P1PbVA ; The closure of NW 5th Avenue has 'peen evalttated
response tb tts impact upon ekisting travel patterns and until.
cation of the new Edison Senior Nigh School campus. To retain
NW 6th Avenue as a. thoroughfare to satisfy the convenience
steeds of residents would serve to introduce through traffic
into the neighborhood while effectively posing a danger to
school children having to cross the street to use the athletic
and open space facilities
APPROVAL: : The Zoning Board at its Meeting of 10/4/76 adopted
Resolution 2E3 154.76 recommending the closure to the City
