UNLIMITED P R PURNISHING TWO EXERCISE STATION COURSES AT ALLAPATTAI3-COMST)CR PARR AND KENNEDY PARR POR THE DEPARTMENT Off' PARKS AND RECREATION AT A TOTAL COST OP $9,096; ALLOCATING FUNDS PROM THE PARKS POR PEOPLE BOND PROGRAM; AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO INSTRUCT THE PURCHASING AGENT TO I6$UE THE PURCHASE ORDER POR THIS EQUIPMENT. • WHEREAS, pursuant to public nrt oe, sealed b ds were received December 100 19,6 for the furnishing of two exercise station courses at ALLAPATTAH-COMSTOCE PARK and KENNEDY PARK for the Department of Parks and Recreation; and WHEREAS, invitations were mailed to 40 potential suppliers and 4 bids were received; and WHEREAS, funds for this purchase are available in the PARKS FOR PEOPLE BOND PROGRAM; and WHEREAS, this equipment will be used by the Department of Parks and Recreation for the purpose of providing additional jogging and exercise courses at ALLAPATTAIi-COMSTOCK PARK and KENNEDY PARK; and WHEREAS, the City Manager and the Department of Parks and Recreation recommend that the bid of C. & W. Unlimited be accepted as it is the lowest responsible bid to the City, NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BX THE COMMISSION t�,OF THE CITY OF MIAMI, FLORIDA: �r �U Ll1I �JYD Section 1. The December 10, 1976 bid of C.-i fib: Unlimited for furnishing and installing two exercise station courses at ALLAPATTAH-COMSTOCK PARK and KENNEDY PARK for the Department of Parks and Recreation at a total cost of $9,096 as hereby accepted, with funds allocated therefor from the PARKS FOR PEOPLE BOND PROGRAM. Section 2. Funds are to be allocated from the Parks for People Bond Program. The City installed a Vita -Course in tiorningside Park last year, and has received such excellent comments that two more have been planned. The course at tLlorningside Park is in constant use by the citizens of the City of Miami, as well as the Fire and Police Departments for training. The course has been so well received that citizens in other areas or the City, including the Fire and Police Departments, have requested others be installed. It is requested that theawardbe made and a resolution be prepared accepting the most advantageous bid as re- ceived from C. & U. Unlimited for furnishing two exercise stations at AllEipattah-Comstock Park and Kennedy Park at a total cot of $9,096.00. (See bid Tabulation). The Department of Parks and Recreation concurs with this recommendation. ADDITIONAL INFORCATION: The Vita -Course is a series or exercise stations along an approximate one mile jogging course through the park, which promotes physical fitness. The apparent low bidders for furnishing, II. II. Hansen and Recreational Development Corporation, did not bid on installation, and the apparatus and structures required for complete systems are not furnished. The apparent low bidder on installation, Florida Playground and Steel Corrips.ny, stated that they installation price was good only if they supplied the equipment. By awarding to C £: W Unlimited, a net savings of $408, 60 is realised over the next qualified low bidder, Florida Playground and Steel Company. This equipment is funded by the Parks for People Bond Program, funds to be allocated at time of award by the City Commission. Thank you for your cooperation.
