A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING IN THE CITY MANAGER TO EXECUTE AN AGREEMENT WITH METROPOLITAN DAP' COUNTY THROUGH THE MANPOWER PLANNING CONSL A1IUM OE UADE AND MONROE COUNTIES TO IMPLEMENT A MIAMI CAREER DEVELOPMENT PROGRAM DURING PIECAL YEAR 1977. the City of Mufti has operated a CAREER DEVELOP- MENT Program under Title I of the Comprehensive Employment and Training Act, during the past year; and WHEREAS,the U. S. Department of Labor has approved funding in the amount of $217,000 to carry out the program through September 30, 1977 and 'WHEREAS, low income minorities and female residents of Miami continue to need this type of program to further their education and enhance their employment potential. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF MIAMI, FLORIDA: Section 1. The City Manager be and he is hereby authorized to execute an agreement with Metropolitan Dade County through the MANPOWER PLANNING CONSORTIUM of Dade and Monroe Counties to implement a Miami Career Development Program during the fiscal 1977. FLORIDA NTErborrice MEMORANDUM "•ar ins, Dirac or e of Community Affairs January 10, 1977 whet proposed resolution to accept P.Y. 77 funds for the Career Development at€eatmegrogram (CETA Title I) tNtLaituatl: Enclosed is a proposed resolution authorizing the City Tanager to execute an agreement with Metropolitan Dade County to implement a Miami Career Development program during fiscal 1977 with an allo- cation of $217,600 (CETA, Title I) This program has been in operation since October 1, 1975. It pro- vides thirty part-time positions for economically disadvantaged minorities and women to work in City departments. Program funds are also employed to cover part-time tuition and books at Florida International University so that the participants may complete the baccalaureate degree. It is expected that this program will con- tribute to the availability of qualified minority personnel for managerial positions. Therefore, it is appropriate for the City Commission to authorize the City Manager to enter into the proposed agreement.
