bEVELOPMEN T AUTHORITY FOR THE DEVELOPMENT OF A
DOWNTOWN PEOPLE MOVER (DPM) SYSTEM; CALLING ON TI1t
CITY OF MIAMI , METROPOLITAN T•AN FADE COUNTY AND THE STATE
or FLORIDA DEPARTMENT OF TRANSPORTATION TO CONTINUE
TO FARMARK THE LEVEL OF FUNDING UNDER TTIE URBAN MASS
TRANSPORTATION ADMINISTRATION DPM DEMONSTRATION PROGRAM;
REQUESTING THE CO?MISSION OF METROPOLITAN DADE COUNTY
TO SPEND FUNDS AS AUTHORIZED UNDER THE ESTIMATED *600
1•MILLION RAPID TRANSIT GRANT FOR THE DEVELOPMENT OF THE
DPM SYSTEM.
WHEREAS, The Downtown Development Authority has consistently been
supportive of a Downtown People Mover System (DPM), and
WHEREAS, the proposed DPM plan has justified a need for an
downtown revital.
integrated transportation system to support

WHEREAS, downtown Miami was not selected to receive a DPM grant
from the Urban Mass Transportation Administration, and
WHEREAS, Robert E. Patriceili, UMTA Administrator, has authorited
the use of Rapid Transit System Grant Funds for the implementation
of a DPM program.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE DOWNTOWN DEVELOPMENT AUTHORITY
OF THE CITY OF MIAMI, THAT:
1. The Downtown Development Authority of the City of Miami requests
the County Commission to instruct the Transportation Coordinator's
office to begin preliminary studies to determine the level of
funding needed to implement a workable Downtown People Mover System.
2. The City of Miami, Metropolitan Dade County and the State of
Florida Department of Transportation are called upon to continue
earmarking the Level of local share funding committed to the DPM
demonstration project..
3. The County Cowission of Metropolitan Dade County spend a
portion of the estimated` G01) million federal. Capiial Grant fund$
to alleviate downtown circulation problems by developing an
effective Downtown Poopae Mc;ver System,
