HomeMy WebLinkAboutR-26-0048City of Miami Resolution R-26-0048 Legislation City Hall 3500 Pan American Drive Miami, FL 33133 www.miamigov.com File Number: 18772 Final Action Date: 1/22/2026 A RESOLUTION OF THE MIAMI CITY COMMISSION WAIVING THE PRIVATE PROPERTY LIMITATION FOR SPECIAL EVENTS PURSUANT CHAPTER 52/ARTICLE I/SECTION 2 OF THE CODE OF CITY OF MIAMI, FLORIDA, AS AMENDED, TITLED "SPECIAL EVENTS/SPECIAL EVENTS PERMIT/SPECIAL EVENTS IN GENERAL; DURATION AND LIMITATIONS; CITY COMMISSION WAIVER," FOR THE GROVE BIMINI-NASSAU QOZB, LLC'S RACQUET SPORTS EVENT TO BE HELD AT THE FOLLOWING CONTIGUOUS ADDRESSES OF 3410, 3520, 3522, 3530, 3560 AND 3574 GRAND AVENUE AS WELL AS 3428, 3521, 3547, 3551, 3559, 3577 AND 3587 THOMAS AVENUE FROM FEBRUARY 1, 2026, THROUGH DECEMBER 31, 2026. SPONSOR(S): Commissioner Damian Pardo WHEREAS, pursuant to Section 52-2 of the Code of the City of Miami, Florida, as amended "(City Code"), a Special Event may occur on public or private property; and WHEREAS, pursuant to Section 52-2(g) of the City Code, "[n]o more than four special events shall be permitted, each for a maximum duration of seven consecutive days, to be held on the same private property or portion thereof per calendar year"; and WHEREAS, pursuant to Section 52-2(i) of the City Code, "The above limitations on Special Events may be waived by an affirmative vote of the City Commission for the calendar year affected. Any such additional Permit(s), however, will be limited to fourteen (14) consecutive days at a time; and WHEREAS, the Racquet Sports Event ("Event") has been held at 3410, 3520, 3522, 3530, 3560 and 3574 Grand Avenue as well as 3428, 3521, 3547, 3551, 3559, 3577 and 3587 Thomas Avenue, Miami, Florida ("Event Site") for the past year and wishes to continue; and WHEREAS, the Event will bring together all types of players from novices to topflight players for lessons and tournaments; and WHEREAS, the current Special Event cycle has expired and needs to be renewed; and WHEREAS, the Event at the Event Site requires permits to be issued by the City of Miami ("City") to ensure life -safety and quality of life issues and appropriate conditions may be imposed on each permit; and WHEREAS, the Event at the Event Site has been beneficial to the City's residents and visitors; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF MIAMI, FLORIDA: City of Miami Page 1 of 2 File ID: 18772 (Revision:) Printed On: 1/26/2026 File ID: 18772 Enactment Number: R-26-0048 Section 1. The recitals and findings contained in the Preamble to this Resolution are adopted by reference and incorporated as if fully set forth in this Section. Section 2. Pursuant to Section 52-2 of the City Code, titled "Special Events in General; Duration and Limitations; City Commission Waiver," the limitation of no more than four (4) Special Events for seven (7) days each per calendar year is hereby waived pursuant to Section 52-2(i) to allow the Racquet Sports Event to continue at the Event Site from February 1, 2026 through December 31, 2026. Section 3. This Resolution does not waive any other requirements of the City Code, including but not limited to, noise restrictions, applicable fees, inspections, and permits. Section 4. This Resolution shall become effective immediately upon its adoption.
