Purpose of Item:
A Resolution of the Miami City Commission, pursuant to Section 18-82 (a) of The City
Of Miami's Procurement Ordinance, as amended ("city code"), classifying a crashed K-9
vehicle, with an estimate value of $6,203.00, as Category "A" stock surplus to be
donated to the University of Miami Police Department ("UM PD"), who agrees to accept
full responsibility and ownership of said vehicle. said dated property has been deemed
beyond viable use for city purposes and its donation to UM PD will greatly aid their
program for the training and safety of their officers.
Background of Item:
The University of Miami Police Department ("UM PD") requested assistance from the
City of Miami Police Department ("City Police") for the donation of a critically needed K-
9 vehicle. The City of Miami's Police Department possesses a crashed K-9 vehicle. The
City's Chief Procurement Officer has declared the attached crashed K-9 vehicle as
Category "A" stock surplus. Pursuant to Section 18-82(a) of the Code of the City of
Miami, Florida, as amended ("City Code"), Category "A" stock surplus shall be available
for disposition as the City's contribution or commitment in support of a particular public
purpose which may include those community, civic, or social service programs as may
be authorized by the City Commission. UM PD acknowledged that this is a crashed
vehicle and accepts full responsibility and ownership of said vehicle.

A RESOLUTION OF THE MIAMI CITY COMMISSION, WITH ATTACHMENT(S),
PURSUANT TO SECTION 18-82(A) OF THE CODE OF THE CITY OF MIAMI,
FLORIDA, AS AMENDED ("CITY CODE"), CLASSIFYING A WHITE 2015 FORD
EXPLORER K-9 VEHICLE, ASSET NUMBER 215403, VIN NUMBER
1 FM5K8AR6FGC08486, AS FURTHER DESCRIBED IN EXHIBIT "A," ATTACHED
AND INCORPORATED ("VEHICLE"), AS CATEGORY "A" STOCK SURPLUS;
AUTHORIZING THE DONATION OF SAID VEHICLE TO THE UNIVERSITY OF MIAMI
POLICE DEPARTMENT; AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO NEGOTIATE AND
EXECUTE ANY AND ALL DOCUMENTS, ALL IN FORMS ACCEPTABLE TO THE
CITY ATTORNEY, AND IN COMPLIANCE WITH ALL APPLICABLE LAWS, RULES,
AND REGULATIONS, AS MAY BE DEEMED NECESSARY FOR SAID PURPOSE.
WHEREAS, the City of Miami ("City") owns a White 2015 Ford Explorer K-9 Vehicle,
Asset Number 215403, VIN Number 1 FM5K8AR6FGC08486, as further described in Exhibit "A,"
attached and incorporated ("Vehicle"); and
WHEREAS, the University of Miami Police Department ("University") has requested the
Vehicle to support their operational readiness and canine deployment capabilities; and
WHEREAS, the University has acknowledged the condition of the Vehicle, specifically
that it is dead -lined, and will accept the Vehicle as -is; and
WHEREAS, the City's Chief Procurement Officer has declared the Vehicle as Category
"A" stock surplus; and
WHEREAS, pursuant to Section 18-82(a) of the Code of the City of Miami, Florida, as
amended ("City Code"), Category "A" stock surplus shall be available for disposition as the
City's contribution or commitment in support of a particular public purpose which may include
those community, civic, or social service programs as may be authorized by the City
Commission; and
WHEREAS, the University, a police department within Miami -Dade County endeavors to
heighten officers' safety and is therefore qualified to receive Category "A" stock surplus from the
City; and
WHEREAS, the City Commission desires to declare the Vehicle as Category "A" stock,
authorize the donation to the University, and further authorize the City Manager to negotiate and
execute any documents, all in forms acceptable to the City Attorney, necessary for said
purpose;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF
MIAMI, FLORIDA:
Section 1. The recitals and findings contained in the Preamble to this Resolution are
adopted by reference and incorporated as if fully set forth in this Section.
Section 2. Pursuant to Section 18-82(a) of the City Code, classification of the Vehicle as
Category "A" stock surplus, is hereby authorized.1
Section 3. The donation of said Vehicle to the University is hereby authorized.1
Section 4. The City Manager is authorized' to negotiate and execute any and all
documents, all in forms acceptable to the City Attorney, and in compliance with all laws, rules,
and regulations, as may be deemed necessary for said purpose.
Section 5. This Resolution shall become effective immediately upon its adoption.
