HomeMy WebLinkAboutR-26-0004City of Miami Resolution R-26-0004 Legislation City Hall 3500 Pan American Drive Miami, FL 33133 www.miamigov.com File Number: 18596 Final Action Date: 1/8/2026 A RESOLUTION OF THE MIAMI CITY COMMISSION, WITH ATTACHMENT(S), ESTABLISHING A SPECIAL REVENUE PROJECT TITLED "MEMORANDUM OF AGREEMENT (MOA) PROGRAM PC-2526-MOA" AND APPROPRIATING FUNDS, IN AN AMOUNT NOT TO EXCEED OF FIVE HUNDRED THOUSAND DOLLARS ($500,000.00), CONSISTING OF A GRANT FROM MIAMI-DADE COUNTY THROUGH THE MIAMI-DADE COUNTY HOMELESS TRUST ("COUNTY") WITH NO CITY OF MIAMI ("CITY") MATCHING FUNDS REQUIRED, TO PROVIDE EXTENDED OUTREACH, AND HOUSING SERVICES TO HOMELESS INDIVIDUALS REFERRED THROUGH MIAMI- DADE COUNTY JUDICIAL AND HEALTH SYSTEMS; AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO EXECUTE A GRANT AGREEMENT WITH THE COUNTY FOR SAID PURPOSE, IN SUBSTANTIALLY THE ATTACHED FORM ("AGREEMENT"), CONDITIONED UPON THE AVAILABILITY OF THE CITY RESOURCES THAT MAY BE REQUIRED TO IMPLEMENT THE ACCEPTANCE OF AND COMPLIANCE WITH SAID GRANT AWARD; FURTHER AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO EXECUTE UP TWO (2) ADDITIONAL ONE-YEAR RENEWALS TO THE AGREEMENT AND OTHER DOCUMENTS NECESSARY, ALL IN A FORM ACCEPTABLE TO THE CITY ATTORNEY, IN FURTHERANCE OF THE GRANT. WHEREAS, the City of Miami ("City") has been awarded a grant in an amount not to exceed of five hundred thousand dollars ($500,000.00) ("Grant") from Miami -Dade County through the Miami -Dade County Homeless Trust ("County") with no City matching funds required, to be utilized by the City's Homeless Services Division for Fiscal Year 2025-2026; and WHEREAS the Grant will be used by the City's Homeless Services Division for the provision of intervention services to benefit temporarily and chronically homeless individuals and to assist with housing, transportation, and other supportive services, as necessary; and WHEREAS it is appropriate for the City Manager to enter into a grant agreement with the County for acceptance of the Grant for said propose, in substantially the attached form ("Agreement"), and to establish a new special revenue project for the appropriation of the Grant; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF MIAMI, FLORIDA: Section 1. The recitals and findings contained in the Preamble to this Resolution are adopted by reference and incorporated as if fully set forth in this Section. The City Manager is authorized' to execute the Agreement, in substantially to attached form, between the County and the City accepting the Grant, with no City matching funds required, for the provision of intervention for the temporarily and chronically homeless as well as the provision of housing, transportation, and other supportive services, as necessary, with said services to be provide by the City's Homeless Services Division conditioned upon the availability of the City resources that may be required to implement the acceptance of and compliance with said Grant. Section 3. The following new Special Revenue Project is hereby established with resources for the same appropriate as described below: PROJECT TITTLE: RESOURCES: APPROPRIATIONS: Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) Program, PC-2526-MOA. The Miami -Dade County Homeless Trust $500,000.00 Provision of Intervention services for the $500,000.00 Section 4. The City Manager is further authorized' to negotiate and execute up to two (2) additional one-year renewals to the Agreement and all amendments, documents necessary, all in form acceptable to the City Attorney, in order to implement and allocate the acceptance of said Grant Award. Section 5. This Resolution shall become effective immediately upon its adoption and signature of the Mayor.2 APPROVED AS TO FORM AND CORRECTNESS: 1 The herein authorization is further subject to compliance with all legal requirements that may be imposed, including but not limited to, those prescribed by applicable City Charter and City Code provisions. 2 If the Mayor does not sign this Resolution, it shall become effective at the end of ten (10) calendar days from the date it was passed and adopted.
