ENCLOSURES: Chief of Police
I am requesting approval for the retirement of Canine YARICK, who has proudly served the City of
Miami since December 2015. YARICK is now 11 years old and has begun to experience health
concerns, particularly difficulty breathing and noticeable fatigue during searches and apprehensions.
Throughout his career, YARICK has been a tremendous resource to the department, consistently
demonstrating reliability, dedication, and skill. His contributions to countless operations have greatly
supported officer safety and enhanced public trust. Unfortunately, recent observations show that his
advancing age and medical issues are impacting his ability to perform effectively. These limitations
not only affect his well-being but also pose potential safety risks during deployments.
For these reasons, it is appropriate to allow YARICK to transition into retirement. Doing so will
safeguard his health while ensuring the department continues to maintain the highest operational
standards.) respectfully ask that the necessary steps be taken to process his retirement in accordance
with established procedures. Your attention to this matter is greatly appreciated.
Thank you for your understanding and support.
