A RESOLUTION OF THE MIAMI CITY COMMISSION WAIVING THE RESIDENCY
REQUIREMENT BY A FOUR -FIFTHS AFFIRMATIVE VOTE, AS IT RELATES TO
NELSON CANIZARES AS A MEMBER OF THE MIAMI FOREVER BOND PROGRAM
CITIZENS' OVERSIGHT BOARD.
WHEREAS, in accordance with Division 2, Section 2-884 (a), (b) of the City of Miami
Code, a board member must either reside in the city, own real property in the city or maintain a
business in the city, unless the City Commission waives the restriction by a four -fifths affirmative
vote of its membership or an unanimous vote of the quorum; and
WHEREAS, pursuant to Resolution R-25-0043, adopted February 13, 2025,
Commissioner Miguel Angel Gabela appointed Nelson Canizares to the Miami Forever Bond
Program Citizens' Oversight Board.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF
MIAMI, FLORIDA:
Section 1. The recitals and findings contained in the Preamble to this Resolution are
adopted by reference and incorporated as if fully set forth in this Section.
Section 2. The Miami City Commission hereby waives the residency requirements by a
four -fifths affirmative vote, as it relates to the membership of Nelson Canizares as a member of
the Miami Forever Bond Program Citizens' Oversight Board.'
