WHEREAS, Miami -Dade County Public Schools ("M-DCPS") manages the Fast Track to Citizenship Program ("Program"), which supports effective research -based practices that will increase access to citizenship education for lawful permanent residents ("LPR") in Miami -Dade County; and WHEREAS, the Program will assist LPRs residing in the City of Miami ("City") to successfully pass the naturalization test and oral interview in order to become US citizens; and WHEREAS, District 4 Commissioner Ralph "Rafael" Rosado ("Commissioner") wishes to provide grant funds from the Commissioner's discretionary account in an amount not to exceed Five Thousand and 00/100 Dollars ($5,000.00) for the Program; and WHEREAS, Mayor Francis X. Suarez ("Mayor") wishes to provide grant funds from the Mayor's Discretionary Account in an amount not to exceed Five Thousand and 00/100 Dollars ($5,000.00) for the Program; and WHEREAS, the total grant funding being provided to M-DCPS for the Program is an amount not to exceed Ten Thousand and 00/100 Dollars ($10,000.00); and WHEREAS, the City Manager is requesting authority from the City Commission to negotiate and execute any and all documents necessary, subject to all applicable requirements of all Federal, State, and local laws, including the Charter of the City of Miami, Florida, as amended ("City Charter"), and the Code of the City of Miami, Florida, as amended ("City Code"), and in forms acceptable to the City Attorney, for the allocation of the funds for the Program; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF MIAMI, FLORIDA: Section 1. The recitals and findings contained in the Preamble of this Resolution are adopted by reference and incorporated herein as if fully set forth in this Section. Section 2. The City Manager is authorized' to allocate the funds from the Commissioner's Discretionary Account to M-DCPS for the Program in an amount not to exceed Five Thousand and 00/100 Dollars ($5,000.00) for the Program. Section 3. The City Manager is further authorized' to allocate the funds from the Mayor's Discretionary Account to the Trust for the Program in an amount not to exceed Five Thousand and 00/100 Dollars ($5,000.00) for the Program. Section 4. The City Manager is further authorized1 to negotiate and execute any and all documents necessary, subject to requirements of all Federal, State, and local laws, including the City Charter and City Code, and in forms acceptable to the City Attorney, for said purpose. Section 5. This Resolution shall become effective immediately upon its adoption.
