HomeMy WebLinkAboutSubmittal-Commissioner Rosado-DDA Resolution,;:br. itted into the publVpcZ. record for iia; s) • on City Civic Resolution No. 69/2025 A RESOLUTION OF THE BOARD OF DIRECTORS OF THE DOWNTOWN DEVELOPMENT AUTHORITY OF THE CITY OF MIAMI, FLORIDA ("MIAMI DDA"), SUPPORTING REFORIv1PHASE 1 OF EDUCATIONAL SPACE WITHIN THE CITY OF MIAMI'S URBAN CORE; RECOMMENDING ADDITIONAL PUBLIC BENEFITS FOR PHASE I; FURTHER DIRECTING THE MIAMI DDA CEO/EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR TO TRANSMIT THIS RESOLUTION TO CITY OF MIAMI ELECTED OFFIALS AND MIAMI-DADE COUNTY PUBLIC HEALTH TRUST. WHEREAS, the City of Miami ("City") is proposing incentives for development projects to incorporate educational facilities within the Urban Core of the City; and WHEREAS, the Urban Core has lost more schools than schools opening leading to a decline in educational opportunities within the Urban Core; and WHEREAS, the City continues to grow and attract new residents, particularly young professionals and families, there is a clear and growing demand for investments in early childhood infrastructure; and WHEREAS, the City is proposing regulations that permit all educational uses within the T6 Transect Zone in the Downtown Miami Area by Right in order to encourage educational facility opportunities in close proximity to the City's core ("Regulations"); and WHEREAS, the Miami DDA Board of Directors wishes to support the Regulations, as well as recommend to the City and City Commission to explore additional public benefit incentives by possibly expanding the entitlements provided and allow for commuter corridors to benefit from the Regulations; and WHEREAS, the Miami DDA finds this Resolution to be in the best interests and welfare of the residents, workers, and visitors in the Miami DDA boundaries, NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE BOARD OF DIRECTORS OF THE DOWNTOWN DEVELOPMENT AUTHORITY OF THE CITY OF MIAMI, FLORIDA: Section 1. The recitals and findings contained in the Preamble to this Resolution are adopted by reference and incorporated as if fully set forth in this Section. Section 2. The Miami DDA hereby expresses its support for Phase I reform of educational space in City of Miami's Urban Core. The Miami DDA recommends to the City and City Commission that Phase I regulations be expanded to include additional public benefits to encourage use of the Regulations, as well as, recommend the Regulations include commuter corridors throughout the City. Section 4. The Miami DDA Board of Directors directs the CEO to transmit copies of this Resolution to the Mayor of the City of Miami, City of Miami Commissioners, and the Public Health Trust of Miami -Dade County.
