From: City of Miami Child Care Committee
June 13, 1978
A meeting of the Child Cate Committee was held Saturday, June 10, 1978 at Shenandoah
Children's Center, 10:00 A,M,
I, A Sub -committee was formed for the purpose of overall reviews
a) Program review
b) Physical facilities review
c) Staffing review
This committee is to be chaired by Dr. Betty Rohan, University of Miami, Early Childhood
Development and Wanda Slayton, Child Care Planner, Dade County. Other professionals will
serve as well as a representative member of parents from all four centers.
A Budget Committee was also chosen for the purpose of reviewing the remaining funds for the
fiscal year ending September 30, 1978, and to assist in planning the budget for 1978-79.
As we understand,the transfer willtake place 30 days after the second reading and passage
of the Leisure Services Department Resolutions Department. We intend, through a concen-
trated effort, to have our reviews completed within that certain time period. Through
our vast resources within the community and the continued cooperation of the City Manager's
office, we are confident this can be accomplished.
II. We also recommend the City of Miami put in a bid proposal for the administration of
Jackson -Dade Child Care Center. 'Those proposals must be Picked up June 26th or 27th at
the Department of Human Resources, Dade Count`•. The bids are due July 26th and our com-
mittee stands ready to active], work on the proposal with the appropriate staff or to do
the proposal and have staff review upon its completion.
III. The parent attenders and parent members of the Child Care Committee expressed great
concern over the graduation excercises for the childiren. 'the parents are planning their
own graduation according to the President of Shenandoah Children's Center. The committee
volunteered to assist in anyway to make the graduation a success.
