Section 1. The May 22, 1978 bid of Gator EmetIC ►j'Ve is e ,
Inc. for furnishing Four 1250 GPM Fire Pumpers at a total cost of
= $328,556.00 is hereby accepted with funds hereby allocated from Fire
Apparatus Acquisition -Capital Improvement Program.
Section 2. That the City Manager is hereby authorized to
instruct the Purchasing Agent to issue the Purchase Order for this equip-
ment.

A RESOLUTION ACCEPTING THE BID OF GATOR EMERGENCY VEHICLES,
INC. FOR FURNISHING FOUR 1250 GPM FIRE PUMPERS FOR THE
DEPARTMENT OF FIRE; AT A TOTAL COST OF $328,556.00;
ALLOCATING FUNDS FROM THE FIRE APPARATUS ACQUISITION -CAPITAL
IMPROVEMENT PROGRAM; AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER AND THE
PURCHASING AGENT TO ISSUE THE PURCHASE ORDER FOR THIS
EQUIPMENT.
WHEREAS, pursuant to public notice, sealed bids were received
May 22, 1978 for the furnishing of Four 1250 GPM Fire Pumpers for the
Department of Fire; and
WHEREAS, invitations were mailed to thirty-nine potential sup-
pliers and two bids were received; and
WHEREAS, funds for this purchase are available in the Fire
Apparatus Acquisition -Capital Improvement Program; and
WHEREAS, this equipment will be used by the Department of Fire
for the purpose of fire suppression; and
WHEREAS, the City Manager and the Department of Fire recommend
that the bid received from Gator Emergency Vehicles, Inc. be accepted as
the most advantageous bid to the City;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COMMISSION OF THE CITY

Pursuant to Public Notice, sealed bids were received
May 22, 1978 for furnishing Four 1250 GPM Fire Pumpers.
Invitations were mailed to thirty-nine potential sup-
pliers and two bids were received as follows:
Gator Emergency Vehicles, Inc. $328,556.00
Jack Cocke & Co., Inc. $325,680.00
Funds Budgeted: Fire Apparatus Acquisition -Capital
Improvement Program.
The equipment is needed to replace obsolete pumpers.
It is recommended that the award be made and a reso-
lution be passed accepting the most advantageous bid
as received from Gator Emergency Vehicles7Inc.for
furnishing Four 1250 GPM Fire Pumpers at a total cost
of $328,556.00.
The Department of Fire concurs with this recommendation.

The bid from Gator Emergency Vehicles, Inc. meets all the
technical specifications and delivery requirements. Jack
Cocke & Co, Inc. bid indicates they do not meet 22 of the
78 Specifications.
Thirteen of the thirty-nine potential bidders responded
with a "NoBid", no reason given. Seven potential
bidders were contacted by telephone to ascertain their
reason for not bidding, most stated they could not meet
the delivery requirements. Others indicated they had
made heavy commitments to foreign governments and their
production capability was full.
IT IS RECOMMENDED TIIAT THE AWARD BE MADE TO GATOR
EMERGENCY VEIIICLES, INC.
The Department of Fire concurs.
