'_0 A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO ACCEPT A GRANT AWARD PROM THE COMMUNITY SERVICES ADMINISTRATION FOR A "RECREATION SUPPORT PROGRAM" AND FURTHER AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO EXECUTE THE CONTRACT(S) AND/OR AGREEMENT(S) TO IMPLEMENT AND CARRY OUT THE PROGRAM. WHEREAS, the Community Services Administration through Metropolitan Dade County has offered a grant award of $115,380 to the City of Miami for a "Recreation Support Program" for the period June 1, 1978, through September 30, 1978; and WHEREAS, this program will expand and improve the delivery of recreational activities within the parks of the City of Miami by employing up to seventy-five (75) Recreation Aides to provide recreational activities for eight (8) through thirteen (13) year olds living in economically -needy areas within the City of Miami: NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF MIAMI, FLORIDA: Section 1. Gary, Director Department of Management and Budget .vr.T. -June 6, 19/8 Recreation Support Program Authorizing Legislation ::rcc+.cr;urtcs This proposed Resolution authorizes the City Manager to accept a grant of $115,380 from Metropolitan Dade County to carry out recreational activities within the parks of the City of Miami. The proposed ordinance appropriating this grant has been placed on the June 13 Commission Agenda. The Department of Parks and Recreation plans to hire seventy-five Recreation Aides to assist in the delivery of recreational activities to children between the ages of eight and thirteen. Trips to Disney World are included in the budget. This trip is often the highlight of the summer for the many children from low-income families who participate each year in this special summer recreation program. 7 j7 3'9 1 MIEW sue—
