McManus Acting Director Planning Department May 11, 1978 Velodrome- Zoning Approval In response to your request, we have met with officials of the Dade County Build- ing and Zoning Department, and have determined the process by which to receive approval of the proposed Velodrome location in the parking area of the Marine Stadium. The majority of land on which the Marine Stadium, the parking area and the pro- posed Velodrome is located, is within the unincorporated area of Dade County. As this land is zoned G-U, General Use, it is necessary to gain approval of these uses from the County Government. The request in terms of Dade County zoning legislation is for approval of the "unusual use" for the Maine Stadium and its ancillary use, a Velodrome. Upon the filling out of the necessary application forms, they are to be submitted along with appropriate plans on the first week in June (the next period in which application can be accepted). The processing of the applications and the public hearing before the Zoning Appeals Board will take approximately ninety days. If, however, the Development Impact Committee of Dade County, requests review of the application, which is within their purview, this could extend the processing time up to an additional ninety days. On the long side, therefore, approval may not be gained until approximately the end of November. JWM:ROW:vh
