A RESOLUTION APPROVING THE DEVELOPMENT AND OPERATION
OF RECREATIONAL FACILITIES ON LOT 21 LESS W. 1.00'
AND LOT 22 LESS W. 1.00' AND LESS S. 3.74' OF E. 74.46'
AND LOTS 23 AND 24 LESS W. 1.00' AND E. 74.46', BLOCK
2, ORCHARD VILLA EXT. (17-55), BEING APPROXIMATELY
1200-1202 N.W. 62ND STREET (MARTIN LUTHER KING BOULEVARD)
PER ARTICLE XVIII-1, SECTION 4(1-3), ZONED C-4A, PROPOSED
TO BE REZONED P-R, PER PLAN ON FILE; AND EXCLUDING USE
OF THE OPEN AIR MARKET UNTIL AFTER AFRICAN SQUARE HAS
BEEN OPEN FOR A SIX MONTH TRIAL PERIOD AND, AT THE
PLANNING DEPARTMENT'S DISCRETION, BRINGING THE USE OF
THE OPEN AIR MARKET BACK TO THE PLANNING ADVISORY BOARD
UPON THE COMPLETION OF THE REVIEW PERIOD.
WHEREAS, the Miami Planning Advisory Board, at its meeting
of April 5, 1978, Item #5, following an advertised hearing,
adopted Resolution No. PAB 20-78 by a 5 to 2 vote (1 member
absent) recommending approval of the development and operation
of recreational facilities on Lot 21 less W. 1.00' and Lot 22
less W. 1.00' and less S. 3.74' of E. 74.46' and Lots 23 and
24 less W. 1.00' and E. 74.46', Block 2, ORCHARD VILLA EXT.
(17-55), being approximately 1200-1202 N.W. 62nd Street (Martin
Luther King Boulevard), per ARTICLE XVIII-1, Section 4(1-3),
zoned C-4A, proposed to be rezoned P-R, per plan on file; further
recommending that the use of the open air market be excluded
until after African Square has been open for a six month trial
period and, at the Planning Department's discretion, bringing
the use of the open air market back to the Planning Advisory
Board upon the completion of the review period; and
WHEREAS no objections were received to said development and

best interest of the general welfare of the City of Miami and
its inhabitants to grant said approval;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COMMISSION OF THE
CITY OF MIAMI, FLORIDA;

Section 1. The development and operation of recreational
facilities on tot 21 less W. 1.00' and Lot 22 less W. 1.00' and
less S. 3.74' of E. 74.46' and Lots 23 and 24 less W. 1.00' and
E. 74.46', Block 2, ORCHARD VILLA EXT. (17-55), being approxi-
mately 1200-1202 N.W. 62nd Street (Martin Luther Xing Boulevard),
per ARTICLE XVIII-1, Section 4(1-3), zoned C-4A, proposed to be
rezoned P-R, per plan on file, is hereby approved: the use of
the open air market is hereby excluded until after African
Square has been open for a six month trial period, and, at the
Planning Department's discretion, the use of the open air market
shall be brought back to the Planning Advisory Board upon the
completion of the review period.
PASSED AND ADOPTED this 19 day of MAY , 1978.
