HomeMy WebLinkAboutR-78-0345RPC/ rb 5/16/78 "SUPPORTIVE DOCUMENTS FOLLOW" RESOLUTION NO. 8w345 A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO ACCEPT THE UNCONDITIONAL OUTRIGHT DONATION Or THE COURSE MATERIALS FOR THE CITY'S INSTALLA- TION OF A 9 HOLE DISC POLE HOLE GOLF COURSE FROM WHAM-0 MANUFACTURING COMPANY; ALLOCATING DEPARTMENTALLY BUDGETED FUNDS OF THE DEPARTMENT OF PARKS AND RECREATION TO COVER THE COST OF SAID INSTALLATION; FURTHER PROVIDING THAT THE AFORESAID COURSE BE RETAINED AT ITS PRESENT LOCATION IN DAVID T. KENNEDY PARK FOR PUBLIC USE FOR A PERIOD OF NOT LESS THAN ONE YEAR. BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF MIAMI, FLORIDA: Section 1. The City Manager is hereby authorized to accept the unconditional outright donation of the course materials for the City's installation of a 9 Hole Disc Pole Hole Golf Course from Wham-0 Manufacturing Company. Section 2. The cost of the installation of the aforesaid Course is hereby allocated from departmentally budgeted funds of the Department of Parks and Recreation. Section 3. The aforesaid Course will be retained at its present location in DAVID T. KENNEDY PARK for public use for a period of not less than one year. PASSED AND ADOPTED this 19th day of May , 1978. Grassie City Manager lbert H.' 14 ward) irector Department of Parks and Recreation •r April 28) 1978 • Disc Golf Course- Kennedy Park In their letter of April 18, 1978, to Mayor Maurice Ferre, the Wham-0 Manufacturing Company, in conjunction with the Gold Coast Frisbee Machine, has offered to donate a nine hole Disc Pole Hole Golf Course for public use at David Kennedy Park. They have only asked that the City, upon accepting this donation, be responsible for the installation of the course and that it remain for public utilization for at least one year. As you may know, the sport of Frisbee throwing and related activities are very popular and this offer should be a most welcomed addition to Kennedy Park. It will be the first of its kind in the South Florida area. Enclosed for your review and forwarding to the Law Department is a resolution for the City's acceptance of this donation. AHH/KH/pem encl.
