FOR FURNISHING SODA ASH AND HTH ON A UNIT COST BASIS NOT TO EXCEED A TOTAL OF $5,736.00, FOR THE DEPARTMENT OF PARKS & RECREATION, ALLOCATING FUNDS FROM THE 1977-78 AND 1978-79 FISCAL YEAR BUDGETS; AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER AND THE PURCHASING AGENT TO ISSUE THE PURCHASE ORDERS FOR THESE MATERIALS. WHEREAS, pursuant to public notice, sealed bids were received April 20, 1978 for the furnishing of swimming pool chemicals for the Department of Parks; and WHEREAS, invitations were mailed to thirty-five potential suppliers and eight bids were received; and WHEREAS, funds for this purchase are available in the 1977-78 and 1978-79 Fiscal Year Budgets; and WHEREAS, these materials will be used by the Department of Parks & Recreation for the purpose of meeting County Health and Safety Standards; and WHEREAS, the City Manager and the Dept. of Parks & Recreation recommend that the bids received from Allied Chlorine and Chemical Co., Inc. and Apperson Chemicals, Inc. be accepted as the most advantageous bids RT��o the City; t SU P P 0 NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF DOCUmENTS ��>> MIAMI, FLORIDA: BOLL Section 1. Invitations were mailed, to thirty-five potential sup- pliers and eight bids were received as per the attached tabulation. Funds for this purchase are allocated in the 1977-78 and 1978-79 Fiscal Year Budgets. Pool chemicals are used in the eight City swimming pools to comply with County Health and Safety Standards. It is recommended that the award be made and resolution be passed accepting the most advantageous bids as received from Allied Chlorine & Chemical Products, Inc. for fur- nishing chlorine and muriatic acid as required, on a contract basis for one year from date of award, at an estimated cost of $8,196.25 and Apperson Chemicals, Inc. for fur- nishing soda ash and HTH, as required, on a contract basis for one year from date of award, at an estimated cost of $5,736.00, for an estimated total cost of $13,932.25. The Department of Parks concurs with this recommendation.
